Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I guess there is always two sides to a story and I am just putting my opinion out there.
If you know the owner it would be a good idea to tell him about this thread and how their poor service has damaged their once high reputation.

if it's true that they've lost the Cervelo line that is bad news as this had been their main road and tri-bike line. I see that on their website they now sell Scott and not Cervelo.

Against the better judgement of the greater knowledge that is Bike Forums, I placed an order for the ST deal at Bikesport 3 weeks ago. My credit card was promptly charged and I have yet to receive the goods. A human being cannot be reached at Bikesport unless you pretentd to want to place a new order. I did so, and had the occasion to talk to Tom, the owner, on the phone. He "hopes" to have a shipment in today and be able to fill the orders. I told him of my concern and the concern of "others" in the same predicament. I told him that I e-mailed him through the address on his profile at Slowtwitch. He tells me that someone stole his identity on that site about 4 weeks ago and the information in the profile is erroneous. All in all Tom seemed like a reasonable guy and I am willing to give him a chance to make good on this deal but my fuse is getting short. He understands that Bikesport's reputation is taking a beating over this and he seems to want to make amends...I will let you know how it goes. Lesson learned...

The reason they lost thier cervelo line is because they were using one persons money to buy ther person that paid before them for thier bike. So you would pay for your bike, and wouldnt get it until someone else came in and paid for thier bike and they wouldnt get thiers until someone else came in and paid for thiers, so on and so forth. Kinda scary stuff.

Update; I received an unsolicited call back from Tom this afternoon indicating that the shipment was inbound from the freight company and that he would keep me up to date on the progress. He anticipates getting them by the end of the week. I will let you know what happens. It certainly appears that he is trying to make things right.

Don't trust a word he says. He himself told me this very same thing several times and it never happened. He seems like a nice guy to talk with but it ends up always being bs. I cancelled my order after 6 weeks and now over 2 months later, they have never credited my account and I am still waiting for my CC company to finalize my dispute. You are foolish to deal with these crooks.

There is no excuse for charging a credit card when the item isn't even it stock, advertising that items are in stock when they aren't, not answering phone calls (unless you pretend to be placing an order), lying to customers on the phone, sending out false tracking numbers (never heard of that one before), not crediting peoples accounts when orders are cancelled, etc. etc..

I eventually got a better deal from this place. https://catalog.bicycleoutfittersindy...rainer-785.htm You can use the 15% off coupon. I received it 2 days after I placed the order. Great service and great price.

I gave up...

All voice mailboxes at Bikesport are full. No human will pick up a phone. E-mails are not returned. Disputed charge with my credit card company. Filed a complaint with the FTC. Lesson learned...

Unbelievable, uh?

May be an "angry badger" needs to be appeased, then they can get back to business as usual

Anyone know if they have gone out of business? Their website is up, and the phones ring, but I've tried calling and emailing them every day this week and haven't had a single response.

i was at their store on November 1st. Not a new bike in the place. If any of you can have your credit card company get your money back. Do it now. I don't think they'll be around long. I personally ordered a bike in July and just got the money from the credit card company!

The owner of Bicycle Outfitters Indy is the former owner of the shop I work for (DG Bicycles - it was Nora Bike & Skate back then). He was in the shop a couple of weeks ago. Said his internet business is booming; he doesn't have an actual retail store.

Footnote: Back in the day (90s), Bicycle Outfitters was THE place to buy mountain bikes. The trails were right across the street from it, and they had all kinds of cool MTB stuff in stock.

Update....

Opened my credit card statement and lo-and-behold there is the charge from Bikesport large as life!
Now I get to enjoy the process of disputing this charge with the credit card company.
Folks, I physically went into the store and cancelled my order and asked that this be removed from my credit card and they still screwed me!

I'm planning on contacting the BBB, The Michigan Attorney General, the FTC and anyone else I can think of. I'm F'n pissed!

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED - DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Buyer Beware

Still trying to canel the order. Only means of contact e-mail as no one will pick up the phone and all voicemail is full. Disputed the charge with the credit card company and filed a complaint through the FTC. Don't have high hopes of ever seeing that money again. @^%#^$

I ordered my Secret Trainer deal on October 6th, and they charged my credit card the same day. As of today, November 10th, I still have not received my order. All voice mailboxes at Bikesport are full. No human will pick up a phone. E-mails are not returned.

The things that is it was this forum that suggested that I should purchase my trainer from Bikesport, because everyone had positive things to say about their experiences with him. Now I have been off my bike for more than a month with no trainer, and no idea if it will ever get shipped. I have no choice now but to contest it with my credit card company. This is the shadiest company if there ever was one.

We should get a sticky "Blacklist" thread right up top for everybody to see and use as a reference when ordering bike stuff.

What? This thread was started on October 1 and most of the people posting from Oct. 1 to Oct. 5 were pretty negative about their experiences with Bikesport Michigan. Why did you order from them? If you had done your research before you ordered, you would have seen the warnings.

From the slowtwitch threads, it seems like Tom left a trail of bad karma. He really needs to address this.

I can believe the CC processor thing.... they can be weasels.
I'd be in pretty bad shape if someone took $60,000 of my money and held onto it for a period of time. Of course, I don't HAVE $60,000.....
