Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Felt S22 Test Ride

I went into an LBS with a mate who's looking to get into the sport. I spotted this in a size 52 frame, and asked the dude if I could try it out on their trainer-As I sat on and moved my arms to the aerobars, I felt a hole in my wallet rip open. Then I started pedaling, flat tops with sneakers and jeans, still loving it, not the slightest bit uncomfortable (I'm very flexible), and did I mention loving it? The R500 wheelset was a let-down, and would be swapped out with my MOst Panther CX's. For a Disc wheel I'd have a crack at laying up a CF cover for an old sora hub Mavic CXP21 combo.

I'm was planning on a TCR with 2010 Ultegra on it after christmas, now I'm considering saving some $$$ and getting 105-anything saved is going straight on the TT bike.
I'm hooked.

You felt the wheels were a let down on the trainer? You must have a sensitive derriere.

I felt the wheels were a let down for the bike itself. Couldn't pick the difference on the trainer, but I've tested the r500's on the road and really didn't like them.

Are you planning on doing Tri's or racing TT's?

If the answer is yes, then get it. If the answer is no, then you don't need a funny bike...

I've got the S32 and it's way faster than I will ever be. I can only imagine that the S22 is even better.

I haven't had any issues with my r500's but then I'm a clyde and I would probably destroy race wheels in short order. I'm sure I run out of juice way before the stock wheels start holding me back.
