Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

7 Speed shifters

I currently have a double 7 speed gear setup, thats 14 all together, but I want to install shifters on the handlebars, but all i can find are 9 speed shifters. Is there any way of fitting these on to my current system.

From: Beaufort, South Carolina, USA and surrounding islands.

Bikes: Cannondale R500, Motobecane Messenger

Also look for old Shimano RSX, which are arguably better made then Sora.

Sora 7sp are readily available (Harris cyclery, bikeparts.com, eBay...), and they work great. Don't listen to the 'if it aint Dura Ace it's crap' crowd. I've built a couple of downtube-to-brifter conversions with the Sora levers.

I would look into RSX shifters. I used an old pair for a while and had no complaints, worked just as well as any other shimano STI shifters I have used
