Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Chain-store cycle shop v LBS

Is a chain-store cycle shop considered to be an LBS, or does an LBS *have* to be a one-only kinda shop? Coz many chain store shops are around me near my work place, and many LBS-type shops are around me near my home. So I'm just wondering...

It's been written here before; a place called "Dick's" sporting goods sells bikes. More known for golfing and other sports, my place has a decent bike dept. The bikes are nothing special but they're OK and cost a hundred or so less than my LBSs.
A cut above dept. stores for sure.

Mongoose & DiamondBack etc. are quite alright. The young man heading the dept. is cool, assbls. the bikes well, he's helpfull. He had nice FlatBar road hybrids. My friend bought one after I tested it.
Up north a few Ski Shops had bikes too and had adequate help. It depends on the individual store. If all this answers your question.
