Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cinelli Proxima frame w/ DA components -- $700-800?

So I have a chance at getting a complete bike w/ Cinelli Proxima frame w/ DuraAce components for $700-800. I think Cinelli only markets frames and I have no idea how much DA components are worth.

Is this a good price for a bike with DA components?

New that frame (I think the Xperience was the Proxima) is $700 here if they have your size

But the one I have the option to buy is a complete bike with DA components for $700-800. Thats really what I'm trying to gauge the value of.

I dont know the used value of DA stuff. Other here would have better feel for that.

I would guess that the frame might be worth half used if its in vgood shape. I bought mine new so I really dont know about its value used. Ive not seen one used for sale

If you want to know the value of something, it helps to provide pics, age, mileage, condition & more component details other than just Dura-Ace ....

A 1 year old Ultegra bike with 1000 miles is worth more than a 10 year old Dura-Ace bike with 50,000 miles.

The frame is in good condition with the usual wear and tear. The component group includes Shimano DA front and rear derailleurs, DA shifters (some scratches), SRAM cassette, Truvativ compact crankset, Fizik Airone saddle, ROL wheelset (only a year old and very nice wheelset). I put on black Mavic brakes too. So, the black crankset matches nicely with the brakes, and black rims. https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=220497614409

No, it was a copy and paste from the listing. It's a bike I'm interested in.

Got this information:

The frame, deraillers, and shifters are about 5 or 6 years old. They have a bit of wear to them but they work fine. I have maintained the bike well. The wheels, crankset, and brakes are about 1 year old.

Buy-It-Now is $1200. What makes you think they will accept an offer of 700-800 ?

Because I've talked to the guy. Why does it matter?

Just wondering because it did not compute.

Gotcha. well any thoughts now that you know age of frame/components? That price seem good? Should I wait? I would have to take it to an LBS to assemble, so that factors into the cost.

He really only gives the age of the wheels, and not much detail otherwise. I'm no expert and know nothing about that frame, but I would think $700-800 (plus shipping) is good, and if you're lucky, you just need to attach the bars & saddle.

It's actually rare that people sell bikes with pedals. It doesn't make much sense because most people already have pedals.
