Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Need help identifying Columbus MS Frame please.

Hey folks, I have recently bought this road bike and if possible was hoping to find out who or what company built it. There are so many knowledgeable people on this site I figured I might get lucky if I made a thread here.

A bit about the bike....
It is made from Columbus/Gilco Multi-Shaped (MS) tubing. It has Shimano 10 fork ends and drop outs. The bb shell has the name "Martino Renwick" stamped into it which I am guessing is the racer it was built for. I searched that name and found nothing. It also has WK stamped on the brake bridge. It has a number hanger which may suggest it came from Europe. I bought it in Sydney Australia.

Any help with this would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Sorry the photos didn't attach for some reason If you can be bothered clicking links here they are...

Try Classic and Vintage, that's what they're good at.

Could be a Basso Loto. The color.. other reason too, other members may explain why or why not. Let's see what unfolds. I already know what it isn't and why.
It's a very cool bike, more racer than eye candy.

If I remember correctly, I believe that the Basso Loto was made from SLX. However, I do know that Basso made a frame with MS tubing called the Ascot. My version of the Ascot differs from what is pictured in three ways:

1) The rear brake arch is a different shape, and mine had the Basso logo.

2) The fork on my Basso had their logo on the top, semi-sloping part of the crown.

3) My Ascot used a fastback style seat clamp, rather than attaching the seat stays to the side of the seat lug.

It is possible, of course, that Basso made variations on the Ascot design over the years. However all of the ones that I have seen had the design features mentioned above. I don't think it's a Basso, but I'm stumped as to who the real builder might be.

Interesting! I'll take a look at some photos of Basso Ascots. Thanks for your replies.
