Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Old classic road bikes

Any websites that dedicated to enthusiasts of older classic road bikes? I can't afford a new top of the line bike, but I could probably get a top of the line used 80's bike for not much money.

Here are some great sites that deal with vintage lightweight bikes. Be prepared the prices for the good bikes are as much or more than a new bike. Bianchi's, Colnogos, Gios, et al that are in decent riding condition are pretty pricey.

You might try this site: https://www.speedbicycles.ch/

But, don't expect anything cheap.

If you're looking for a run of the mill, 80's road bike that's in good condition (ridable as it is) check Ebay. The later 80's bikes had indexed shifting which is really nice as compared to the early 80's that still only offered friction shifting. Expect the bike to be a 12 speed and you ought to be able to find something between $100 and $500.
