Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The ocean water kills a lot of things, even smelly jerseys. Probably wet sand and ocean water in that fancy Polar insulated bottle will do it. Its like that Martha Stewart thing, lots of salt water.

What's better than say a toothbrush is the 3M green scouring pad. I get it from Lowe's, the heavy duty one. I also use that for the aluminum rims where the brake pads touch.

Baby bottle brushes work well to clean them out.

I always use a few tablespoons of bleach, then fill the bottle halfway with water and shake the hell out of it for a few minutes. When finished shaking it, I empty the bottle of its bleach/water solution by squirting it through the nipple, which it should clean too. Then I rinse thoroughly and it's like a new bottle inside.
