Saw one for the first time in a store earlier tonight. Neat bike. I can think of a half-dozen upper-mid road bikes that I'd like to have, and this is one of them.

Just picked up mine last Saturday. I bought the low end Comp model, but will upgrade the wheels in about a month. Only rode it on the test ride so far, but today it'll get it's first club outing. The 5 year warranty is plenty in my mind, as I'll more than likely replace it around that time frame. Just replaced the old steed after 4 years of service.

The price I paid $1620 btw, pretty darn good for a quality carbon frame with components. I'll let you know how the ride was later on today. Club ride starts in an hour.

love my CR-1. My buddy got the tarmac and they seem to handle and fly similarly.

I made a deal with the LBS for upgraded Ksyrium's and have since upgraded some other components.

It is stiff and aggressive and completely worth the dough.

I even kept the saddle though I miss my Aliante.

That's a very fair comment - for whatever reason, Scott chose note to offer a Rival-equipped Addict version, which they could have slotted between the Ultegra R2 and the 105 R3 (2010 models). There IS a Force R15 version, but it would have been nice for SRAM fans to have an "R25" Rival version, comparable in equipage to the CR1 Elite.

The head tube isn't THAT much taller on the CR1 than the Addict (20mm). For that matter, the CR1 headtube is actually a little shorter than a Tarmac's. But the new CR1 will still feel less stiff than an Addict (or last year's CR1).

As an aside, I think Scott is still selling both last year's and this years's CR1 frames (if you look at the pictures on the Scott web site of their frames for sale, you can tell the difference in the photos, even if they're not labeled differently).

I have gone around and around for a couple months now, doing my research and burning the midnight whale blubber in search of a new road bike. I was looking closely at the deals offered at Competitive Cyclist (CC), initially the BMC Road Racer, Cervelo S1 and I tried out what my LBSs had in stock - Spec Tarmac Elite, Madone 4.5, Jamis Xenith, C-dale Carbon Six 5. I liked the C-dale the most, followed by the Madone, the Tarmac and the Jamis. I eventually got to try the BMC and Cervelo and decided I wanted a full carbon frame so those were out.

I started to reconsider my price point and then the Pinarello FP2 and Kuota Kharma caught my eye. I took a trek down to R&A Cycles in Brooklyn to see them in person but neither were in stock. They had FP3s and other Kuotas though. The thing that caught my eye first was the weight. Both are fairly chunky for the price point. I liked the aesthetics of the FP2, and the Kharma to a lesser degree, but 18+ lbs. is not very appealing.

Then I find myself looking hard at Scott. CC is offering the CR1 SL and Addict R3 with Force gruppo ('09 compact crank) for a nice price. I am leaning more towards the CR1 SL right now since I will be doing more long distances than crits. I considered the idea of toughing out centuries on the Addict but the all-arounder quality of the CR1 SL seems to be the right choice for me plus its SDS tech will come in handy on the unpredictable city streets no matter how far I ride. I don't mind the entry-level wheels (Easton EA50) that come with the CC rig since I'll need a beater set anyway. So far all of you who have been dreaming about CR1s/Addicts paired with a SRAM gruppo, head on over to CC and take a look!

I own a Scott CR1 Comp 2009 and I really enjoyed it until I cracked the derailleur hanger. Too bad it's not replaceable on the CR1 Comp model. Scott wants $800 to get it fixed, which I'd rather use on a brand new bike. The Scott representative was also not responsive. Never got an answer from Scott regarding my hanger problem. I'm looking at a new Roubaix instead or a Tarmac.

I just went out and double checked my 2011 CR1 Team and it does have a replaceable RD hanger. First ride was yesterday and I really enjoyed it. Thoughts are in another CR1 thread. Just had to settle my mind on the RD hanger because I had ask them that question before I ordered one. The new 105 is quite nice.

I built mine in August, a 2010 Pro. I absolutely love the ride on this bike. Much more comfortable than my Tarmac.

I have had the opportunity to ride the 2011 CR1 Team, and I was very impressed. Excellent carbon, full 105, extremely light, smooth ride, and flat out beautiful to look at. I immediately ordered one, but I am told that the 52's won't be in until November. It's worth the weight, and beside my other bike is a caad 9! IMHO one of the better values in the market. Good luck

Mine it the 2008 Team, with a couple of upgrades (esp the wheelset).

I would like to make further changes/upgrades eventually, but at the moment, there is no need.

we've had our 2011 teams for over a month and half, in full size runs. take a look at the 2011 comp as well. they upgraded the spec big time. 105 shifters, rd and fd instead of the 9 speed tiagra like last year for the same price. tiagra brakes and non series shimano crank, and alex wheels.

Mine is a 2007 cr1 Pro with 2010 Sram rival group set. had it build from scratch. was a display frame at my local LBS. got a great deal and rides
great. Correct me if im wrong. i read in a post that this style frame is stiffer than the new ones. was this right. ???

Hey Guys,

My LBS is having a sale on a brand new Scott Addict R3. The scott website doesn't have anything on the Addict anymore. Can anyone chime in where it falls in line and what it's proposed use is? I hear a lot of talk about the CR1 but nothing about the addict which makes me nervous. Thanks for the help guys.

I broke mine. Fortunately, only real thing that got damaged was the hanger. Had to wait for it to come from Scott and other things were just adjustments... Replaceable hanger I believe saved the frame actually instead of breaking it in process.

That's what I ride... Addict R3 2011. Beautiful paint scheme, etc. Gets complement often.
For me, it felt much better than any other bikes around I test rode... felt more in connection with the bike would be it. It's more "aggressive" than CR1. I really couldn't tell. Maybe if I rode the test ride for an hour or so maybe... It used to be their race bike which foil replaced this year. I have no intention of changing the frame short of having damaged frame for at least few years down the line. I can't think of better frame to be worth moving onto for some time. Right now my rig is upgraded quite a bit to point where only thing that is stock is... frame/fork/stem/handle bar. Honestly though, even before all the swaps, it was a great bike for the price. Getting good discount on it at all?
