Those profile racing rims and saddle make it pretty appealing.

The saddle must be shaped like that because the guy's tool is so large that it created a permanent dent.

One of the nicer X-Mart bikes around. The frame brakes, and tires look okay. I don't know why ANYONE would put grip shifters on a road bike? Seems like a weird way to be changing gears when you need it.

so many things wrong with that. Twist shifters on drop bars, the previously mentioned saddle "accomodation" zone, the weld on that stem looks like molded play-dough, the angle of the drops. Wow...but it's only $150...too bad I don't live in the Chicagoland area.

Honestly now that I look at the Derailleurs and stem even closer. I don't know that this bike cost more than 150 NEW. The Frame is Nice looking, but more than likely pretty crappy.

You can pretty much buy them NEW for same price, and there is a reason. To each is own.

Reminds me of this legendary thread:

I think these bikes came free with the purchase of a vehicle, wasn't that it?

They make for great single speeds or fixed gears for those interested. There's a thread on this forum somewhere in the SSFG section. Believe it or not, people scoured Targets for these "hidden gems" (for your semi-horizontal rear dropouts). If I recall correctly, they were also on clearance for $61.97 at one point.
Anyways had you purchased this for a fixed gear conversion, you can salvage a majority of the parts. The only real component you would have to purchase is a new wheelset or if you are cheap a rear wheel or if you are really cheap a fixed rear hub (and re-lace the wheel)

The stock wheels cost 17.99 to replace. That is pretty ridiculous. I would not trust that bike over 35 if it were me. They did not come with the trucks. Only available at Target, Walmart, and Cabellas and a few other places, (Maybe sears?) The VW Trek/K2 deals were awesome for those that actually had that lifestyle. Upwards from a 500-1000 bike or set of 300-700 set of skis for a car you could not really haggle on.
I agree that these Denali's take fantastic pictures and I must admit when I first saw one in the store I walked right up to it. But then I looked at it and realized, WOW!

i totally agree its no where near worth 150
but i do have one and i got it at a garage sale!
ive wanted to try cycling for a while now but the bikes i wanted were way expensive.
im only in college and im saving for a car so i should get my priorities straight right? well stumbled upon an 07 denali xl
i DO NOT have that hideous saddle though haha. anywho after a good clean up and what not ive had nothing but good luck with it.
perfect newbie bike. and im planning on putting new components on it meanwhile i save for my car!
sure its a total dud to many of ya'll but i like mine and it does what it's supposed to. i gotta play with the hand im dealt with right?
anywho im not ashamed of riding mine. its fun and ive lost 10 lbs in a month! cant go wrong right?
dont worry though after i get a car im totally getting a higher end bike

That saddle indentation a good place to keep the Power Bars so they stay warm and pliable during winter rides.

I am sorry, there is just too much plastic for it to be a "Perfect" anything bike. noobie or not. What are you planning on upgrading?
New shifters = Brifters = new brakes, handlebars, derailuers, cassettes, crank, and everything attached to those parts. That is pretty much the cost of a new bike man. Keep the Denali for friends to ride with you, or sell it to the next unsuspecting victim. Normally I am an advocate for anything on two wheels, but something just does not sound safe with an All Aluminum, Road bike that costs like thank 170 new?
