LOOK Keo - Bearings
It seems that my current left Keo Classic bearing has come to its end of life. Any idea if there is a a difference in the bearing quality or strength among the different Keo models?

the keo 2 max carbons have a larger spindle, witch would lead to longer bearing life. at least thats what it says. How long have you had them?

We had a guy in complaining that his chain was worn after 1,000km's, and periodic application of used motor oil as lubricant, complete with small metal shavings.

Five responses and nobody's actually answered your question.
The answer is yes, different Keo models have different bearings.
Your older Keo Classic has one sealed bearing and one needle. The Keo Carbon uses two bearings and one needle.
However, I'm looking at the Look website and it appears they are phasing out the normal Keo, only listing the Classic and Easy versions. Then they have the Keo 2 Max and Keo 2 Max Carbon, plus the new Keo Blade. Also it indicates only the cheaper Keo Easy has the two bearings you have, with all others (including the current Classic version) having three. Obviously they recognized the issue putting the three bearings in the new Classic.
50% more bearings should help your situation and I don't hear of bearing problems much in the Keo Carbon lots have, including myself.
Side note, my wife still uses my original 1988 PP66 pedals which to this day I think still have the smoothest bearings of any bike part I have, old or brand new. Of course they also weigh a ton.

Over 20 000 KM on Keo carbons and the bearing are just like new, the carbon bodies show allot of wear. The Keo classics I have, maybe 5000 km and bearings where never as smooth and showing signs of wear. They are also used is harsher condition that would play into this. If I where to buy some now, I would buy Keo 2 max composite with the stainless steel cleat contact area.

i just got my keo 2 max pedals in and love them, the extra surface area is really noticeable. However I have put around 15000 miles on my keo classics and have no issue with them still so I really dont know what kind of bad bearing life everyone is is getting out of their pedals? Are they clicking or something?
