Hi Gang,

It has been a while since I have been in here but I have been crazy busy for the past few months. To cut to the chase, especially for those of you who know this story...I finally made my move up to Canada the week before Christmas. I left my job on Dec.11th and am now living near Toronto in Burlington ON. The bad part is that I had to leave my bikes with a friend back in NJ. He is going to bring them up for me when he and his wife visit at the end of January. The way I figure it is that, being the complete and total winter wuss that I am, I won't be doing much riding until spring anyway. The move was delayed a few days due to the week before Christmas snowstorm that hit the east coast. It was weird that we had 2 feet n snow in NJ while I had none when I got here to Canada.....go figure.

Anyway I hope all of you had a very happy holiday and are doing very well. I got the very thing I had been wishing for for the last 4 years...a new home with my girlfriend.

Now that things have calmed down a bit it will be good to catch back up on the goings on here in BF.

Welcome! This has actually been a pretty mild winter so far, at least for Toronto, so you picked a good year to make the move.

I have noticed that it hasn't been too bad. Of course I moved here on the 21st and flew down to North Carolina on the 29th for 8 days so I haven't really been here very long at all. I am looking forward to getting back in the saddle up here though. I love the area.

Welcome to Canada, haha. And no, we don't live in igloos.. hence the fact that we have less snow than our USA buddies... for now.
Burlington isn't near Toronto.. well then again, when I hear a 1 hour drive, I freak out.
Well make sure you get to check the waterfront trails, and do make a trip to Toronto. It's about.. a 75km ride?

I definitely plan on checking out The Waterfront Trail as it has been in my crosshairs since my first visit her 4 years ago. I would like to ride from Niagara On The Lake to Toronto but that will have to wait since I have not been riding at all this year due to foot issues, one of which was the surgical removal of a bone infection. I will surely need to build up to that kind of distance before I attempt
that.
You know, I think I am one of the few Americans who know more about Canada than just that it is north of us (lol!) and as far as not being close to Toronto....Toronto is closer to me than New York City was when I lived in New Jersey, which was 55 miles or 88km....Toronto is 55km (roughly 34 miles) from Burlington, which is a stone's throw in my book.

I have been coming here to Canada many times a year since 2005 and have loved every trip here. My girlfriend is Canadian and she is the reason I am here. There is no need to sell me on Canada. I am here for as long as you Canadians will have me.
