Max Time On The Trainer

What's the longest amount of time you've gone on the trainer in one session?

What's your average length of time on your trainer?

*** Go ahead and give your rollers stats too ***

superdex 01-21-10 06:13 PM

all time? I've done a LOTR movie (3+hrs) on the rollers. That was a couple years ago though, and I really don't want to do that again.... I know there are folks here who (routinely?) do Trainer Centuries. I'm not one of those....

These days an hour is good 'nuf....

umd 01-21-10 06:16 PM

Did 2hrs this morning. Don't need to use it often except warmup for races...

I once put in about 2 1/2 hours in one trainer session. Gads that's mind numbing. Lately, 45 minutes to an hour is all I can stand. I am not as motivated this year.

Ygduf 01-21-10 06:21 PM

I want to kill myself after 30 minutes. 40-45minutes is probably my average. I think I did an hour once, but the sweat was really becoming an issue, with sweat dripping onto my shoes and then flinging forward. I view the trainer as a way to keep moving when it's dark, rainy, or I am just too pressed to get in a good outdoor ride. I don't use it to do intervals or anything crazy (or productive, probably).

One hour. Maybe once I did an hour and a half a few years ago.
But then again, I've only been on the trainer maybe five times over the past year.

90 minutes is the max I can recall doing. I used to watch my online classes and ride the trainer, it was pretty good multitasking... and my mind wandered much less when I was on the trainer.

Longest trainer ride is approx 3 hours, rides typically range from 45 min to 1.5 hours though, anything longer than that is mind numbing.

1/2 hour a day till the temps get above 60 here in NY. Any longer and I'll go crazy.. Any less and i'll be too fat to fit in my bibs..

2.5 hrs on the rollers is the longest I've been able to tolerate. Average is probably 1.5 hrs. I'm picking up some e-motion rollers this weekend with the hope of making the 3-4 hr roller rides that I have scheduled for base more comfortable/tolerable.

2 hours a couple weeks ago due to weather. Past 2 days I've been back at it but reduced the time to 1.5 hours...

I've found that doing a specific workout helps time go by faster.

dsotm 01-21-10 06:44 PM

I've done about 2 hours and 10 minutes, the only way I can get that far is with a movie.

jrobe 01-21-10 06:55 PM

I do a once a week 3-4 hour ride on my Tacx Fortius virtual trainer (usually mountain rides) and usually with a football game on my second TV.

I have done the Spinervals Harcore Hundred a few times (5 1/2 hours).

There is no other way to maintain aerobic endurance in the Wisconsin winters. I could never do this to with just movies or music though.

That guy is insane.

I ride for about 30-45 minutes. This week ive been watching the Tour Down Under highlight show.

SalsaPodio 01-21-10 07:02 PM

Yesterday I rode on my trainer for 4 hours promoting our cycling club at a university club fest. I'll never do that again.

I usually ride somewhere between 30 minutes to an hour.

These graphs mean nothing in the 41.....
Total milage and avg MPH are what counts.
Just sayin'

I've always gone about 40-45 mins or so

These past two weeks i've been trying to do 1.5 hours, to try to get some good base. After like 10 mins i'm just counting down the minutes till i'm done. Longest i've made it so far is about an hour and 45 mins.

khatfull 01-21-10 07:14 PM

Just short of two hours is the longest. Average is 65-75 minutes.

this begs the question, can you really get traditional base miles with 1.5 hours on a trainer?
Over the years I've collected various Grand Tour DVDs, TDF, Giro, Vuelta. Watching them helps take your mind off the clock.
But the clock is a very important tool, especially when doing intervals.

4 hours and change. it was not fun, and I was only able to do it because a teammate was there with me. suffering.

hurley.girl 01-21-10 07:28 PM

I've been able to do 2 1/2 hours without too much boredom.

I've found that watching the right thing makes the time go by quickly. I watched La Femme Nikita during my first winter of real training, and Highlander (TV show) during my second. This year it's Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Having specific workouts helps. Pure endurance pace is fairly dull, but throwing in tempo intervals or bursts or something helps.

ok_commuter 01-21-10 07:32 PM

I've been doing a spinervals workout that is 45 minutes but feels like 4 hours.
