Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Specialized Comp-Set Adjustable Stems

https://www.bikeradar.com/gear/catego...oad-stem-31001

I'm trying to find my ideal position as my fitness improves and these stems look like standard stem with the shim that goes inside to adjust the angle. they're not too heavy and don't look very offending either and they're not too expensive. any negatives to these? maybe not very stiff? thanks.

i put one on my fixed gear for the same reason. i found my angle and just haven't needed to purchase a new one yet. it's not the stiffest stem in the world but it gets the job done.

I had one come on my Tricross. To tell you the truth, I didn't understand how they were adjustable until I saw your link. Thanks for that.

Its not a bad stem, fairly light, and convienient with all the different heights. I think I have a silver 110mm with +16 -8 if you need, $20 shipped.

I honestly don't see any downside to them. Maybe if you're ready to win the Tour de France they're too heavy or too flexy. I, personally, can't tell the difference between the Comp-Set I use when fitting new bikes and any other stem. They're phenomenally better than any other adjustable stem I've used and pretty cheap, too.
