Is it wireless, or is it the Sigma?

So i just bought a Sigma 1609 sts with cadence. There is a solid 5 second lag for the speed/cadence.
Does this happen with all wireless systems? Went for the 1609 over the Cateye Strada Double Wireless. I wonder if the same thing happens with that one as well?

Is there a smoothing setting? Some computers refresh faster than others, and on some how fast it refreshes can be set by the user.

I wonder if basic wireless computers without a cadence function are better off in this aspect. If so, i could live without cadence no problem.

it's most likely a wireless thing.. even my cateye strada(wired) takes a few seconds to initially register...gotta think.. it still takes 2 full revolutions of anything(crank or wheel) to start determining speed and cadence

Oh shoot! I just bought that computer online a few days ago! Now i have to deal with 5 SECONDS? That's a loooooong time. My Cateye Strada Wireless had a refresh about once every second.

My Cateye Strada Double Wireless has a short startup delay, but not 5 seconds. More like a second and a half. It updates about every second. I also have a wired Cateye Strada that appears to me to perform about the same.
The old Avocet cyclocomputers were the fastest I ever saw. IIRC, the magnet unit actually had three parts, so the sensor was tripped 3 times per revolution.

I have a 1606. It does take a few revs to register on startup, but after that it responds quickly enough. Ride faster and you won't notice.

I've been using a Sigma 1606 for a couple of months now, my first wireless computer. I've noticed that when I accelerate from a traffic light that sometimes the mph doesn't register for several seconds, nor does the trip mileage change. Then the data has been processed and the speed is indicated while and mileage recording. The mileage will take a jump ahead anywhere from .02 to .08 miles. Apparently, even though the speed is shown to be 0 mph, because the bike is moving it is already recording the distance. Does that make sense?
One thing I like about the Sigma is the size of the fonts, much easier to read with bifocals than my previous Cateye Astrale.

Hmm. I had a Strada wireless and never any lag problems. Make sure you have the wheel sensor unit pointing right at the head unit. Also, mount the wheel sensor as close to the hub as you can. That's pretty much the norm for any computer, but still.
