Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yokozuna housing/cables internally routed into FSA K-Wing

I need to switch out the stock housing that came with my SRAM Red shifters. I read the Yokozuna housing are thicker than normal ones though. Anyone have experience with Yokozuna housing internally routed into an FSA K-Wing?

Hi kevboy, I route them in mine, they are a little hard to pass, but can be done. In my case ended up having to replace the outer core of the shifting set since the pre-cut cables that came with my set (Reaction) were too short when used on the K-wing handlebar inner routing. (Ended up using the SS Yokozuna inner cables with Jag Wire outer cables).
This is how they look installed on the K-Wing:

Hopes this helps!!

Regards,

Francisco

Next to impossible because how stiff the Yokozuna brake cable housings are, and you better be prepare to work on it for a long time. It's really not worth it. You can easily hide the cables underneath to get the desired feel and look .

Thanks for all the helpful replies. I also hear the brake cables are stiff so I think I'm just going to get the Yokozuna 4mm derailleur housings paired with some other brand brake housings. Any recommendations?

If I would be you would give it a try, it's hard but can be done. In my case I pass the cables coming in from the sides of the K-wing towards the center. I use a flashlight and some thin plyers to pull out the cable housings, once the housings are in place passing the inner cables is really easy. You could run them out as suggested by kevboy but then would have to wrap most of the K-Wing handlebar, which in my opinion does not looks as nice as just wrapping it a little and exposing the nice carbon finish of it. Also, the grey color housings looks good and distinctive IMHO!!

Oh I forgot to mention I have a small frame (48cm) and it might to too much of a bend for the stiffer housings.
