Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

First? I was riding an old cruiser that a family member had asked me to fix up. I stopped pedaling and must have somehow pedaled backwards (pedal brake-equipped bike) because I skidded on some gravel in the road, and down I went. A surgery, three pins, lots of pain meds, and a few months later I was back to normal.

I ran over him with my back tire I think... that kinda freaked me out. I told her to put her damn dog on a lead, then got on my bike and rode away, then I noticed I was bleeding, but not before I noticed that my wheels got pretty screwed up.

I went to the LBS to get my wheels checked out, then went home and soaked in the tub for a few hours.
Similar experience back in January. I was riding a familar country road, I have ridden it at least 20 times and never seen a dog. Well I was goin down a small hill around 20-25mph just coasting. Then I hear rough rough rough and there is a huge chocolate lab on a perpendiular collision course with me. I unclip my left foot in an attempt to kick him away, but he ran right under me and my rear wheel ran him over. I went OTB and landed hard denting my helmet slightly and slid bout 15 feet. Luckily I was covered in spandex head to toe so minimal road rash. My bike wasn't so lucky, front rim was beyond repair. Dont know what happend to the dog, he was just gone, he prolly lived because he was huge!
