Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Garmin GSC-10 Cadence Sensor Problem

Hello

I have the Garmin GSC-10 Speed/Cadence sensor, and it is not picking up my cadence. On my road bike, it's fine, the sensor is only about 8mm away from the crank, now i put it on my TT bike which has chainstays that stay closer to the wheel so the distance from the sensor to the wheel is about 2 cm. How do I close this distance? Does anyone else have this problem? Should i try putting a spacer between the crank and the magnet? Is there a special magnet i can buy?

Thanks.

Just angle the cadence sensor out a bit. That's one of the reasons that the arm for the speed pickup is adjustable. (i.e. you can ngle the sensor toward the crank arm a bit, then adjust the speed sensor to reach farther to still pick up speed off the wheel.)

Also, do you have the magnet pushed as far out on the crank arm as possible? Given that chainstays flare out the farther back you go, setting the cadence sensor up so that it is as far back on the chain stay as possible will move the sensor closer to the magnet.
