Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Is it worth it??

I was checking Craigslist for some big deals, and i found an Opus Fidelio 07 going for $700 Cad. (I live in Vancouver B.C.) Do you guys think its worth 700? I emailed the person whos selling it, and asked for more pictures, or maybe a time to go check it out in person. I'm pretty new with bikes, so was wondering what you guys think.

https://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/bn...654644835.html

I've been checking out entry bikes from all over the city with a 1000 budget max, and found the Kona Zing. I tried it out today, and was thinking of getting it. It was going for $999. But now since i found the craigslist post. i'm not too sure anymore.
Any thoughts?

i personally wouldn't spend $700 on a sora/tiagra equipped bike, unless the frame or wheels somehow were worth a bunch of money.

i was sort of in the same position as you for a while. except my budget was 700 max and i would not get tiagra unless it was sub 300. over the month of looking i saw quite a few 105 and ultegra bikes in the 400-600 range.

was about to pull the trigger on a 2005 specialized allez elite with full 105 for $400 but for some reason didn't get it (actually i was just too lazy to pick it up an hour away - no car)

last week i finally chose a 2003 klein quantam race with full dura ace for $450.

not sure how the market is over there, but in LA it's pretty easy to get a deal better than what you posted.

i could send you the list of things i searched for / the site i used to look around craigslist easily if you want me to PM it to you.

Seems okay... if you look harder you can prolly find better deals though. You should be able to find an ally bike with 105 for less than a grand.

...If you're not in a hurry, I'd hold out for ZOMG deal like this:

I've been looking a few places. I guess in Vancouver bikes are more expensive. anything above tiagra is going for $1300. I wish i could find a bike with 105s in my range. No luck so far.
I found a Masi speciale cx for $850 on craigslist, but the guy never replied.

And Darklicious, i would be great if u could send me the info.
