Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

First off I have a s720i and am using the Polar Performance SW. My problem is with the ascent data. When I chose select entire exercise and then put the cursor at the end of the exercise I am getting two very different numbers for the total ascent. For example on one paticular exercise when I do this I get a value of 1781 feet for the ascent for the selection and 2565 ft for ascent where the cursor is. Now if I select the exercise by dragging and stopping right at the end I will get the almost the same value for the selection and the cursor. I have attached a couple of screen shots to help explain. Both have the cursor located at the end of the exercise, but one I did 'select entire exercise' and the other I dragged the cursor to select the exercise. One last bit of info. If I view the lap info that seems to match with the cursor info. Thanks for the help.

I see differences too but now as much as you. I suspect the cursor position is calculated from the data yet the total ascent listed at the bottom is the result of in-watch calculations. On thing to check is if you've got the auto altitude data correction enabled. See if that helps the situation.

I've noted before the the watch's displayed average speed differs a little from what the software reports and I always put that down to the watch doing "simple" math during the ride and maybe not being so accurate.
