Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Mods in overdrive?

Is it just me or have the mods been prowling around a lot more? I know it's your job, but c'mon. Let us have fun sometime

No problem . . . within the guidelines.

If it's anything like the forums I moderated (technically still do since they won't change my status), moderators have their own private forum where they discuss issues. This could include a thread that says something like "They're starting to get out of hand in the 41. We need to crack down on things until they bring it back a bit".

There could also be discussions like "I hate that midgetmaestro guy. I wish I could ban him, but he hasn't broken any major rule yet".

edit: I wonder what they really think about me.

I've been walking that line for years.

I had no idea that's all it took, I should've made that move long ago. Unfortunately, I don't think it's working for me.

I let the guys in SSFG have cat thread about once a month. That pretty much tires 'em out.

I think I'm gonna implement a Caterday over here, too.

Gonna make it a sticky.

(Gonna be so awesome)

I only get warned when I say something I probably shouldn't have said. I get the warnings and think "Yeah can see their point. I was drunk at the time." Not banned., just warned. So I tone it down, cuz I like to post on BF. Maybe the mods run it a little too tight, I dunno. it's a tough job for them. Maybe there should be a wide-open category in BF, sort of like Bizzaro World, where people can post and read no-holds barred/ insulting/provocative/degenerate/ sleezy/salacious/outrageous stuff with a content-R+ rated warning flag to enter. Or not. I dunno. It would be popular...

You guys have to remember that the minimum age for membership is 13. A lot of the things that I edit are things that I wouldn't want my kid to see or read. And I'm sure that many wouldn't say that kind of stuff in the presence of a 13 year old.

Also, posting while intoxicated really is a problem for some folks.

I agree, but of course the moderation, image restrictions and word filtering are targeted more at avoiding BF being blocked by corporate content filters than any Puritan concern over 13 year olds. Follow the money.

No, botto. You don't adjust your behavior at all. This is why you get in so much trouble.

We are all aware of sex, violence, and colorful language. That doesn't mean I want to see it here when I come for info about bikes. There is a time and place for everything.

No. Just that this place can't be a free-for-all post whatever you want place. There are plenty of other forums like that and you guys are welcome to participate on those sites.

A forum can't be all things for all people. Simple concepts like being nice, staying on topic, and abiding by the rules that we all agreed to when joining tend to work best.
