The three kinds of clipless riders

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The three kinds of clipless riders

1. Those who have fallen.

2. Those who will fall.

3. Those who have fallen and, claiming they never have, lie about it.

4. Those who've never fallen due to clipless because they learned to ride with old fashioned clips and straps which were much more difficult to get out of than clipless pedals.

Are you tightening the straps down when you take off and loosening them when you stop? Yeah, getting out of straps that are loose enough to pull out of is easy...

do you actually tighten the straps such that you can't get you foot out without loosening them?

I logged in only to see how long it would take umd to reply. 2 posts. I am impressed, young Jedi. This is your fastest response yet, I think.

Do they actually strap your feet in tightly or are they a hipster fashion accessory?

Neither have I. I have, however, fallen due to my inability to put my foot on the ground. Just once, but it was enough to deny me the right to make fun of those who say "everyone falls."

The forth kind: Riders who use the appropriate equipment for their needs, without undue commentary or crude country witticisms. They just ride, period.
