Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Jeg skal til Cykelbutik i morgen.

A friend had a wheel with very similar symptoms: the spokes kept pulling out of the nipples (though not so dramatically!). Wish I could remember what brand he had. Most likely, the broken ones were the last to go, after the others had pulled out and strained them too much.[/QUOTE]

I think I see your problem. That's a 24h rim, and a 24h hub. If you only started with 22 spokes, you had an imbalance in there, leading to the early demise of the spokes you did have.

Of course, that means you only broke 7 spokes, if you count what's remaining.

Knock a little over 12lb off that and you're where I am. And I've gained weight over the past few months.

I have a very similar wheelset that came on my Giant Advanced 3. CXP 22 to Formula hubs 24/28 and still haven't had to true them.

Just got back from track practice, and dropped my wheel off at the LBS on the way. The rim and spokes are both busted beyond repair, but at least the hub is fine . The guy I was speaking with didn't believe that I hadn't crashed, but the owner came by and recognized me from the ride Sunday, so here's hoping that my warranty claim is approved

By the way, is a tiny, little runt like you doing Grejsdalsløbet? A little far from Copenhagen, but -- well -- if you want any climbing at all, this is the motionsløb to do.

How do some of you not just float away? At 190 lbs, I have been hesitant to try anything with less than 32 spokes, maybe 28. Did you ever determine if there were missing spokes to begin with?

I've only got 800km on the road so far, so I think it'll be a while yet before I start racing, especially against Danish Juniors. Once I can keep up on the long+fast group ride I'll try and join the Cycling Concept team. from the people I've spoken with they have a good reputation in the Sjælland racing scene, and their trainings are certainly convenient.

I started with 24 spokes, it seems AP Calculus has ruined my ability to count properly

Obviously a build issue. There's no way a bunch of spokes just pull out like that if it's properly built. You're lucky you still have all your teeth.

I posted my weight in the OP, and my height later in the thread.

The first thing out of my mouth after I stopped was "I can't believe I'm still upright"

My 6 year old is 117cm, 21kg. I can out sprint him but he kills me in power to weight ratio.
