Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Rain?

I just got into road cycling. As I was biking today, it began to rain pretty hard, just curious to know, are there any "dangers" to the bike in terms of the brakes or other parts exposed to water. I have a trek 1500 and I dried it up as best as I could. Thanks

there is a little screw in the bottom bracket shell (where your crankarms meet in the middle). unscrew it. let the water drain out over night and then put the screw back in.

also, put some sort of lube on the chain. its probably all washed off by now.

Also check for places where the water actually is coming in.

I just got caught in the rain today myself. As far as hurting your bike you shouldn't lose any sleep over it. Just do what the other guys said. Also pull the stem and seatpost and regrease. You should be good to go then.
