i have two questions; what year is this frame? also, i have a 2003 trek 2300 frame, would this trek 5000 frame be better and lighter than my 2300 frame??

I am still trying to get it I guess, but I can't see the rationale for taking a nice road bike and turning it into a fixie. I guess I just never swallowed the Kool Aid.
