Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Going back to Metrigear...........
I think most people are rooting for them. The power meter market could use more competition to bring down those ridiculous prices.
The pedal-power measuring does have some potential advantages. I hope they succeed, but like others have posted, I'm not holding my breath.

Agreed which is why I'm buying a CinQo and am willing to revisit their progress when they actually release something which is not this year. No way.

Same protocol in the 33, except you also need an extension cord to plug your Ego into the 33 Nuclear Power Plant.

All of this is funny - I work at one of the highest-end Hi Fi shops in the land, and the term 'audiophile,' is often used in a disparaging manner by those within the industry to describe one who listens to the gear, and not the music. And then, of course, a customer walks in and declares themselves to be an audiophile, which never seems right - kinda like someone walking in to a bike shop and saying, "oh yeah - I'm a poseur, I'm a total poseur!"

As a general rule of thumb, don't declare yourself to be ANYTHING ending with "-phile" - it's like giving yourself a nick-name - it's just wrong.

PS - just for the schwag factor, see me new avatar? It's a meter on my (new to me) Magnum Dynalab tuner - lovin' it!

I've always hated the word "audiophile." So pretentious. Almost as bad as "foodie."

Also Apple's move to Intel chips. That was astonishing.

EDIT: from the time I posted this (I think back on page 2), we talked about power meters, mp3 players, iStuff, audiophiles, and I vaguely saw something about ranches.

MD Tuners are almost as ridiculous as audiophile power cables. That said, mp3s do suck.

Tuners are (obviously) dependent on broadcasts. Yeah, maybe if you're listening to the KQ Morning Show in SE MN (I'm from St Paul) it's not worth it. But in NYC, where you have frequent live broadcasts from Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, etc, etc... yeah, put one in the system and get back to me on that.

Anything other than Mothra speaker wire and power cables isn't worth turning on.

"Our goal is to wrap the listener in an intense, passionate and lifelike embrace of sound at a price comparable to the US Navy's Trident Missile Program. "
