Is that true??? Is that really the noise I've been hearing in the corners? I've been thinking it's brake rub...but now it makes sense that it's the tire. Huh.

Vredestein Fortezza SE. Because they are hella cheap on sale at Performance ($24-$25) and only come in blue which matches my bike.

lemak 05-09-10 10:56 PM

schwalbe ultremo r.1

post recall, amazing tires.

Continental GP4000. Expensive sort of but roll really nice and smooth, run true, seem true to size, stick good. After using up my last old time Specialized Turbo R I got these GP4000 and immediately I felt they were faster. I still have a set of wheels with the Turbo R slicks and back to back, these GP4000 roll smoother and IMO, faster.

Vittoria Randonneurs 700X28 one bike for good city roads, but most of the time another bike Panracer Paselas 700X35 bc the roads suck here, rolls well. 1.) They are relatively affordable $30-40, puncture resistance, rolls well/fast, good reviews/recommendations...

Val23708 05-09-10 11:26 PM

4000s. have been running them since they came out. best combination of weight, durability, grip, and it matches any bike... and the giant silver labels.

gatorskins 25's I like 'em, rider 195lbs

mustang1 05-10-10 12:13 AM

Conti gatorskin 700x23, 97kg rider wants flat protection above all else as the streets aren't very clean. Not much grip with these tires but you get used to it.

If i could, I'd def go for a more compliant tire. Prevously used Krylion which were great.

caloso 05-10-10 12:34 AM

I was a Conti guy until this season when I tried Schwalbe Ultremos. Excellent tires: very light but surprisingly durable. Very round profile gives you confidence diving into a corner at pace.

Me too. Had them for a month. So far so good. Recommended by LBS.

Attack/Force

Because they roll better then my 4000S.

I was running Attack/Force until I realized that I always needed the Force before the Attack wore out. Difficult to find Conti Force tires. I switched to GP4000s cause I can get them on sale at PBK! :D

jumprdude 05-10-10 04:31 AM

Mine came with Maxxis Re-Fuse, which I found to be crap, honestly. They were always picking up stuff from the road and I would always have to scrub them after every ride to make sure nothing got embedded in them to cause a flat down the road. Plus they didn't seem very sticky either.

I ran them for around 1k-1.5k miles until I wised up and got the Conti 4000S, and never looked back. Since then I've put over 5k miles on the Contis and have been very happy. I've been meaning to try the Ultremo Rs as well, but haven't gotten the chance yet.

Specialized Armadillo Elites. I live in an area that's a flat-tire nightmare, so I needed something hardy. They're not as heavy as the regular Armadillos (which are pigs), but I might try gp4000's when they eventually wear out just to see what the fuss is about.

Diegomayra 05-10-10 09:55 AM

Conti GP4000S. On Sale at PBK, no complaints, low rolling resistance and grippy.

merlinextraligh 05-10-10 10:32 AM

Continental GP4000S. Mostly for the reasons here: http://www.conti-online.com/generato...gp4000s_en.pdf

Is this true?

I think that way overstates it. Going from really cheap tires to really nice tires is likely to be a noticeable difference. IMHO, changing between competing brands of comparable tires in the same size (such as from one good race tire like a GP4000s to a PR3 for example) is going to be a very subtle if even perceptable difference.)

I switched from PR3 to GP4k a year ago. The only difference in feel was the feeling of changing my tires way too often with PR3s.

I'm a big fan of the Vittoria Rubino Pro's. I've done around 6000km on one set of them, and will receive my second set later on this week. It's about time though, as they're starting to wear out pretty much.
They're not expensive either, they're around the cheapest set I could find around here.

My new favourite tyre.

I second these tires. They wear well and roll fast. I have the same tires as you do (Vittoria Zaffiro Pro Slick) on my Felt and regardless of what clincher tire you get, it is not going to make a night and day performance difference over what you have. Wear the Vittoria's out with some serious miles and use the time in between to make your decision.

i'm also a fan of the vittorio rubino pro.

They don't cut easily, they wear slowly, they are cheap compared to michelins and continentals. They are comparable to the training tyres' price of those 2 brands.

Only complaint is they are damn hard to put on the wheel. takes me ages and a lot of pain on the thumb, leaving blisters.

And unfortunately, I can second that...

kleinboogie 05-10-10 12:09 PM

gp4000s. durability, low rolling resistance, I like to ride on chili compound.

SkinnyLegs 05-10-10 12:13 PM

GP4000 Black 700x25c with Michelin latex tubes. Feels soooo good!

ILUVUK 05-10-10 12:26 PM

currently, i am on a pair of michelin krylions (made in france). i basically ran my old wheels into the ground, so a buddy let me borrow his. the wheels had krylions on them and i loved them immediately. before, i was running vittoria rubino pros, which i also think are very good tires.

javal 05-10-10 12:47 PM

Continental Ultra Race 23-622. Comfort. Speed. durability. German engineering.
