Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

GT road bikes?

I was at my local performance today during my lunch hour to get some spare tubes and came across a new bike they had received in the store. It was a GT carbon bike but what struck my attention was that it was spec'd with full SRAM Red for $2500. The paint scheme was pretty minimalistic but it definitely looked nicer in person than the website.

I know GT back from my BMX and mountain biking days when I was a kid but have not really found any info on their road bikes.

Bikes: Specialized Roubaix SL3, Lynskey Cooper CX

That's a classy looking ride. Unfortunately, the only thing I know about GT is that they went bankrupt back in the 90's and have been bought and sold once or twice since then, so they are not exactly the same GT you or I knew back in our BMX days.

Bikes: Too many to list here check my signature.

I think GT started making road bikes back in the early '90s they used to make steel and aluminum frames with the triple triangle just like their MTBs

Bikes: 2006 Fuji Newest 1.0

According to their wiki page they are owned by Pacific cycle aka Mongoose, Schwinn, etc. My friend and his wife have had GT road bikes for years and they enjoy them. Other than that I haven't has experience with them.

Double points on GT, too. Last month's double points deal put a Fuji in my garage and used the points to buy all of my tools. Nice looking bike.

They ALWAYS look nicer in person.

Bikes: yes please

Saturn also rode them a few years back. The guy that ownes the lbs that I go to won a contest years ago to ride with the team durring training. One of the perks was a team bike and full kit, all of it. He got like 3 or 4 big boxes of stuff. they came out aand measured him before hand and custom made the bike. It is still hanging in his shop.

Yeah they are selling it right with an extra 10% off which makes the bike $2250 for a full sram red carbon bike. Plus the double points gets you back over $400 so if that's not a good deal, I don't know what is.

Edit: I just read that Pacific which owns GT, Schwinn, and Mongoose also owns Cannondale. I wonder if these GT carbon frames also come from the same factory as Cannondale.
