Poseurs on the MUP!

Sheesh, they even match their socks and helmets.

http://media.sacbee.com/smedia/2010/...ffiliate.4.JPG

Poseurs.

coasting 05-13-10 02:58 PM

they look like they are going fast

walie 05-13-10 03:01 PM

is Quickstep dude on his cell phone?

Daytrip 05-13-10 03:04 PM

WTF? The dude with the arm warmers is out of uniform.

Those cats do look badass, and all.

FreddyV 05-13-10 03:05 PM

It's funny... The quickstep and the wtfisthisteam? guy make me think this pic isn't legit. Though the Rabobank guys match everything including bikes, as if they really are Rabobank. (Can't seem to recognize any of the Rabobank riders though)

You tell me, is this legit or are you just having a laugh over real poseurs?

coasting 05-13-10 03:06 PM

i bet they are real

QuickityJacks 05-13-10 03:09 PM

I can't tell. Is that actually an implausibility* of Rabobank going for a spin before the ToC or a shrewdness** of dentists all needing a punch in the face?

*a group of Gnus is called an "implausibility."

**A group of apes, while sometimes troops, can also be called a "shrewdness."

Seriously, look it up.

caloso 05-13-10 03:10 PM

You tell me.

QuickityJacks 05-13-10 03:11 PM

I just said I can't tell!

Caad 8 05-13-10 03:13 PM

Those are the real deal. I recognize Lars Boom.

dstrong 05-13-10 03:14 PM

Definitely Dennis Van Winden, second from the front on our right.

FreddyV 05-13-10 03:14 PM

Is Rabobank participating in ToC?

I know they're doing the Giro as well right now, so whoever is riding the Giro for them is probably not in this pic.

Very obvious. Wish my wife had her, err... his hair though.

QuickityJacks 05-13-10 03:16 PM

They are definitely in the ToC. Fielding a good group, too.

Lars Boom (NED)
Stef Clement (NED)
Steven Kruijswijk (NED)
Sebastian Langeveld (NED)
Thomas Leezer (NED)
Paul Martens (GER)
Grischa Niermann (GER)
Maarten Tjallingii (NED)

So Dennis Van Winden is just chilling in Sacramento? Doesn't look like he's on the squad for this one.

I had a look around, according to the Rabobank website these are the riders:

Dennis van Winden
Paul Martens
Grischa Niermann
Lars Boom
Maarten Tjallingii
Sebastian Langeveld
Stef Clement
Tom Leezer

So apparently Dennis van Winden is riding the ToC. I think the other teams might want to watch out for Niermann, Boom and Clement.

Me too. That's the reason I said it ;)

Man, what tools.

I've never seen a bunch of sucky pro team wannabe riders try to actually ride on an MUP. This is a whole new level of fail, especially because some of them don't even match...

No dude, those are the actual pros.

midgetmaestro 05-13-10 03:31 PM

You shouldn't be so hard on yourself.

They're not the tools, we are. We wear exactly matching kits to go with our bikes, but when it comes down to it, we're unable to physically back up the team name on our jersey, but they are. They'll whoop our tails. Hard.

I was more than able to back up the team name on my jersey on multiple occasions. Talk for yourself.

What I did not do is ride with my team on an MUP. Only tools do that. I doubt those guys are pros because they wouldn't ever do that...

waterrockets 05-13-10 03:45 PM

Sad. I wonder if they got a group order deal on the2009 kits or something. The "Quickstep" guy is probably calling to order his right now, as he's stuck in last year's fanboi kit. Notice there aren't any joggers? They're off on the side rolling in the grass laughing.

So you did check the Rabobank website?
Yes, they actually are legit and will be doing the ToC.

Oh, and don't take everything I say so seriously. You'll live longer.

rydaddy 05-13-10 03:47 PM

Funny, I saw that photo on Sacbee.com and thought about posting it here. I might hit the trail today in search of more poseurs.

You sound like the tool.

Make sure to wave and see if they wave back!

Last year they did.

KiddSisko 05-13-10 03:57 PM

A professional team would never do a training ride on a MUP, so they must be poseurs.

Think about it - this is the perfect time in Sacramento to emulate a pro team, which is the poseur's raison d'etre.
