Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Mavic Wintech HR Computer????

I've been looking at this computer on Nashbar for a little bit now. It's a pretty good deal at $100, but I know nothing about Mavic computers. I have a Cateye Cadence that works well, I just hate that it doesn't have multiple display lines. I'm also looking into getting a HR monitor though its not a mandatory thing to have. Just wondering what everyone thinks about the company's computers. Thanks for any help.

Here's a link to the computer: Mavic Wintech HR Computer

I have a similar model but with an altimeter. The altimeter is really lousy, but the other functions seem to work fine. Here's my review: Link

I really like the skewer sensor.

I have the ultimate and have been happy. I think it provides a pretty good amount of data for the price. x2 on the skewer sensor. not having to mount it to the fork is cool

Discouraged by the Garmin reviews and not wanting to drop a whole lot of cash. I just bought one of those Wintech HR from Nashbar. Came close to a Garmin 500, 305 and a Sigma 1909. Gonna give this a try with the Smart Cadence ankle sensor. I really hope I don't regret it and wish I had gone the Sigma route. What swayed me was the bar mount (I run a 90mm), the skewer mount, the basic info displayed, and the ankle cadence strap I bought separately from Evans Cycles. I hear it's tricky to use and finding a replacement HR strap will be next to impossible I bet. The Garmin GPS would have been nice and I may go that route if this Mavic turns out to be a failure. I took the plunge anyways so wish me luck!
