Is it the right bike for her?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Is it the right bike for her?

My girl wants to start riding and I am pretty excited and sure she'll love riding. We have been looking into different road bikes for month and she fell in love with the 2010 Kuota Kharma with Sram rival. I think its awesome and that the bike is WOW. What do you think? Is this a good choice for a new rider? And what do you think about the Kuota?

That's a very expensive bike for a first time rider. I'm sure Kuota bikes are nice though.

Well two things can happen:

1. She will love to ride in which case she will have a good bike for a long time.
2. She might not get into it in which case you would have to sell the bike but since it's a Kuota it will not depreciate as much.

If you were to go with a cheaper $1000 bike and scenario 1 happens she is going to want the Kuota in a year and then you will end up spending a lot more money. It will be very hard to convince her on a much cheaper bike now that she has taken out the Kuota for a spin. If she loves the bike as you say she does she will want to ride it a lot more so you will get your money's worth.
