Looking for a LBS to assemble a new bike - How much should I pay?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

internal headsets are easy. Just put the bearings into the bearing seats. DONE!

If you know how to adjust derailleurs, then you can built up that bike.

All done!

Can't wait to hop on it this weekend!

Please forgive me for photographing the bike in its 45/23 configuration. I at least tried to get the valve stems in the appropriate position. Also, no garage door was available so my couch was substituted.

Nah, I didn't do it. I ended up having my LBS assemble it while I watched. In hind sight, if I bought a BB tool (which I may) I think I could have done it. But Roy showed me all sorts of tips on setting the derailleur adjustment and headset tension. It was well worth the $95 to have it done right so I can spend the remainder of the season riding rather than tinkering.

I love this thing.

Yup, bar tape and all. My only gripe is he put the brifters awefully hight on the bars. I have a hard time reaching the brakes while I'm in the drops.

Yeah I can see why. They should have gotten the hoods to have as flat a transition to the hoods as possible.

Did you get properly fitted for the bike after it was put together or did you fit yourself?

That last place I lived that actually had a LBS the owner told me once he wouldn't/couldn't charge too much for putting a bike together or similar work because if he went past a certain limit his mechanics would just do it in their off hours for less and take 100% of the money instead of an hourly pay......I had never looked at it like that.

Looks sweet! $95 seems like a good price to me, especially with the accompanying piece of mind.
