Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Teams... Racing... BLAH

I live in Westminster/Huntington Beach, CA and my area for bikes is totally dry. I'm 14 years old but i want to join a junior road team and try my hand at racing. I check my local bike stores and things and no store has a team or anything. Where should I look? Also best bike for 800-900 that is new? I already ride but my bike isnt cutting it.

Hi - if you are getting into bikes, you would get your best bang for buck with something like a BikesDirect bike IMO.

If the LBS doesn't support local racing, buying from them would allow you to get more acquainted with how a bike goes together, and give you confidence for when you need to service and clean it. Of course if you don't have a mechanical bone in your body or anyone you're confident could assist you, this is not an option for you.

YMMV, HTH
