Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Most of the time I just use Cinelli cork tape and it works pretty well; a little slippery when wet but not bad. I installed Bontrager gel cork on another bike. It's a bit more squishy so I'm not too sure I like it as much.

WRT adhesive, I'm ambivalent. It can be a mess to clean up when changing tape but it holds the tape in place.

I've got San Marco lorica bar tape that I'm itching to try out. Same material as San Marco saddle covering (also same material as is used in my Sidi cycling shoes and favorite La Sportiva climbing shoes).

I like the fizik microtex. Do you where gloves? If not, I would go with the cork
Is there something wrong with google?

It's bar tape, for Pete's sake. At least for me it has always behaved as well as the special stuff that comes on a new bike, be it fizik or some other expensive brand.

I know OP made up his mind already, but additional q... I just wrapped some Cinelli cork tape on a bike and if I got the adhesive on the cork instead of the bar, it seemed very easy to rip the tape (adhesive stuck to the tape and tears it) if I had to back it off to rewrap a portion. Is this normal or did I just get an old box that has aged/deteriorated a bit? While I use gloves, I like how well it aborbs water and feels the same regardless (caught in thunderstorm yesterday).

Love the Fizik dual stuff, looks good and tough as heck...

That's normal; I did the same thing a few weeks ago. One side of the bar looks a little f-ed up but it'll get retaped in a few months.

I used some white vinyl tape a couple years ago. No grip at all but it cleaned off well and lasted a long time. It was great if I wore gloves. Can't remember the brand.

Bikes: 2010 Cannondale CAAD9-5

Just last week I re-wrapped with fizik microtex soft tape with the gel strips applied underneath. So far I like it. The gel is nice if you don't like to wear gloves like myself.

I see what your saying as this will help find related items, but doesn't that throw a flag when using google halps you find something easier than the sites search option? seems to me the site should have an easier way to locate threads or subjects. none of my other forums I belong to have this kind of problem

but thanks for the information, next time I will use that as my search option. thank you

all this dude does is lol...

there are a bunch of forums i go to where the search function doesn't work... everyone else seems to do fine without it... plus... you don't maintain a forum, so you wouldn't know how difficult it actually is... this isn't a small local forum, it's pretty much a global community... it seems that from everyone else around the world on this boat, you're the only one complaining and picking fights...

drama...

and dude... innertube with a top layer of lizard skinz... is so much for the nguyen...

I had that last year. Loved it. Using Specialized Roubaix tape now, and love it even more.

Bikes: Cannondale Six5, Specialized Stumpjumper FSR & old Hard Rock

"Anyone know what brand tape Cannondale uses on the 2010 Synapse Carbon 3? "

I have a C'dale Six which came with very comfortable wrap. I'm fairly certain it is Fizzik Gel tape. I ended up replacing it only because it got ripped by the car that hit me & was a gaudy silver color. I now have the Fizzik dual / stripped stuff in black & red. It's ok, but I'll probably go back to a solid color of the gel tape.

You don't have to use google, but they are kind of known for their search capability.

The site would probably be better off if they just scrapped the craptacular search function and replaced it with a google box. If search were easy, google wouldn't be an internet behemoth.

I put Specialized Roubaix tape (white) on my bike this spring. It is nice and soft and has good grip but the soft grip seems to hold dirt.
