Do I need a different seat?
I've been riding my 2009 Trek 2.1 for about a year now. I've done two rallies at 40 miles a piece. When I ride casually, I usually get anywhere from 12 to 25 miles in. After about 12 miles of a rally everything feels automatic accept for my sits and "taint". I've been fitted once after about 50 miles of total riding and the seat was slightly adjusted by the tech and felt a bit better. But the pain always creeps in during the rallies.
I understand the saddle is a Bontrager Race Basic, and am wondering what the consensus is on these for folks with my build. Maybe there is a saddle that better fits my body type, or do I just need to spend more time in the saddle to get used to it. I sure am sore down there, though.
Any saddle adjustments that come to mind? Any other recommendations?
I'm 5'8", 140 lbs. with very low body fat. Athletic/Thin.
Thanks, folks.

You can also try adjusting your seat to the ever so slight positive angle of attack. I did that and I found it easier to sit where I should be sitting and takes a little bit of pressure off my arms.

Wit may be the wrong saddle shape. regardless if what saddle you choose you have to keep in mind that you really don't ride to much. so your butt doesn't really get used to that feeling. Going back to the shape if your saddle, ur your saddle is to narrow for. you and your sit bones are hanging off the edges than it can be very painful.
I'm not trying to be a salesman, but I had the EXACT same issues you were having. After much research I our based a cobb saddle from Cobbcycling.com I got the V flow plus and after four 50+ rides I couldn't be happier! it has a 6 month comfort guarantee so you don't have anything to loose.

Thanks, guys. I found out this evening that I can get a fitting at my local bike shop. Same shop I bought the bike from, so I wish I would have done a fitting a year ago. Oh well. I'll go gather that info soon and formulate a plan.
Bianchi10, thanks for the response. I'm glad to see the change made a difference for you. I look forward to getting to the bottom
of this, as I've been bitten by the bug for sure.

+1 for saddle with a cutout. My poor girly bits were not happy after any ride of any length no matter how much or little I adjusted the saddle until I swapped the B17 for the Terry Liberator X.
