Race Across The Sky Video

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Race Across The Sky Video

Anyone seen this video, looks like a good motivational documentary type surrounding the Leadville race:

But not really. He rode to the finish on a flat.

I just ordered, recieved, and watched this movie last night. It's ok but not worth $30 by any means. The adverstisment for it made it look great. If you can find a copy for $10 or less go for it or maybe you can rent it one day.

They pointed out that one of the first things Lance did as he started fixing the flat was he looked back to try to see where the second place rider was. He said that he wasn't getting clear split times from the crew accompanying him, so he had no idea how close the defending champ really was. And, yes, he wasn't sure how to use the CO2.

He was also the only rider to climb the power line hill without walking the bike. Cripes.

Those who own it - does it include the roundtable discussion that was shown in the theater last year?

Oh, and I'll gladly spend thirty bucks on the Blu-Ray disc. Anything to help out the race founder and his crew. I can't remember his name offhand, but I remember that he's genuinely excited to see all the riders come out and do their best.

So it's not worth the $30. Think the Blu Ray version might offer some nice scenic shots. I'd go blu ray.

Believe me I just bought it and watched it don't spend the $30. Lance got a flat 7 miles from the finish and tried to reinflate his tire (which he did) and air did not hold. He rode the last 7 miles with a flat and won the race and set a new course record. Face it Lance is incredible and just finshed 3rd in the ToF 3 weeks earlier and in top form. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the video but $30 is way to steep for something you will watch once. It was not that inspiring. I still would like to try to race in Leadville but watching the video didn't make me want to race it any more than I do. Wait for Netflix of some other video rental place to get a copy and rent it. Or you and your buddies pitch in a few bucks, buy it, and share it. I hate to be negative. I watched the video advertisement on line and was pumped. Bought the video and watched it and said to myself "seriously I just blew $30 on this?".

If you're only watching it for Lance, you're missing 90% of the story.

I saw it in the theater with some other NorCal BF folks. I enjoyed it. Some of the cinematography is pretty cool.
