Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

New bike advice, Felt z5 vs. z6 vs. Caad 9

I'm buying a roadbike after years of casual MTB, and I was looking for some help/advice.

I've ridden the Felt z5 and z6, and they both fit well, I'm riding the CAAD9 1 tomorrow for fit & frame feel, but would likely buy the CAAD9-5, in my price range. (my size in the 5 is in the warehouse, but there's a 1 in the LBS).

Some info, the LBS can sell either the 2010 z5 or the 2011 z6 at $1400 to me, and the CAAD9-5 would also be 1400 from a different LBS.

The 2011 z6 (msrp 1600) looks very similar to the 2010 z5 (msrp 2000) to me, in fact besides paint I didn't notice any real differences... 105 group, mavic cxp22 rims, felt hubs, felt entry carbon frame, etc... Does anyone know of any differences between these models? I'm assuming 2011 z5 will be ultegra, rival, or something to justify the normal $400 price difference.

I understand the CAAD9 is a more aggressive position than the Felt Z, but it gets talked up enough that I want to test one out.

If it fits well I have a feeling I'm going to have a tough time deciding between entry carbon, 3yr warranty vs. top alu, bb30, lifetime warranty. Any information or opinions?

Try riding a felt f75 has a more aggressive position than the z series and is still alu

was in the same predicament last week, went with a 2010 z5

carbon is awesome to ride, the price was right and the fit was great!

what finally turned me off the caad is that noone with in a 25 mile radius carried the bike, and if they did, its a small mom and pop shop tha doesnt have the bike in stock (special order)

i havent looked back and am very happy

btw: the 2011 z6 and 2010 z5 does have a few differences like:
z5 comes with better tires, better hubs and actual shimano brifter
unlike the 2011 z6 which has generic hubs, lower line tires and non shimano brifters
there are a few other specs but since the 2011 z6 is not even on felts web yet its hard to remember and compare head to head

i know cus i was initially looking into the z6 for the price, but upped my budget after riding the z5
