BUT THAT WEIGHS MORE!!! also, all black is sooo 2006 (says my all black Tarmac).

I know that doesn't help the OP's decision....I just thought it was funny.

And funny it was.

Red would look nice and is an easy choice. Black is a bit boring unless you're going to go stealth. White isn't bad either. Agree the bright blue would look sucky.

Once you go black, you'll need a wheelchair.

chadwebster 07-08-10 12:15 AM

hahahahaha, i WAS talking about bar tape btw....

RT 07-08-10 12:32 AM

OP, who makes those wheels? My God, those are loud.

My black bike has a white saddle as well and black tape leaves the saddle all alone on the bike. But you at least have white logos to fall back on.

What are you cleaning the tape with? My microtex is clean AND non slippery.

as much as i like the white seat and tape, 200 miles per week makes them consistently *not white* and time spent cleaning is not time spent riding. also the Fizik Microtek tape is too slippery.

so what do you think? replace with a black ProLink & black Deda tape?

They let you keep your bike while in prison?

stien 07-08-10 03:53 AM

It seems you only have 3 colors in your bike: red, black, and white. I think black would be too plain, white is a pain in the arse. Go with red tape. The seat doesn't matter since nobody but us will see it. Go with what's comfortable, that's what you should be more concerned about rather than color.

NathanC 07-08-10 04:10 AM

Black. Classy.

WHOOOSSHHH... 07-08-10 04:18 AM

What's in that suitcase?

Terex 07-08-10 08:50 AM

Gray (or Grey, if you ride in the UK)

hairnet 07-08-10 08:59 AM

I had black on my all black bike, switched to blue tape and now pink.

Inertianinja 07-08-10 09:02 AM

to respond to a few posts:

yep, the wheels are loud. they're ridiculous, but i like them. if i ever have to attend a formal event i'll use my more modest wheels :) they actually come in a louder RED color, but i wanted to go with the calmer look.

and i like the red/black/white color scheme. makes the bike look like a black & white desaturated photo with just a bit of color.

i'd like to try the red saddle, but it seems my ass is too wide for the red saddle market - i use a Selle.it ProLink @ 144mm; all of Selle's red saddles are in the 130s. last 130mm saddle i used gave me numbness. if anyone has suggestions, i'd like to hear it. it's weird, are most cyclists just "ok" with a 130mm saddle? you'd think that the vast majority would be in the middle, not on the small end.

i saw an older dude on a ride a few weeks back - plain gray (unbranded) steel frame, everything else was pink, including the cabling. the most color-coordinated bike i've ever seen. I asked someone who knew him what the pink was for, assuming it was like a breast cancer thing. apparently he just "likes it that way." the guy was a strong rider, but probably the most vulgar guy i've ever ridden with. every patch of rough road was F's and JESUS - F - CHRIST and so on.
