Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

should i switch to black?

my bar tape needs to be replaced, and my other bike needs a new saddle. so i have a chance to try some new stuff.
as much as i like the white seat and tape, 200 miles per week makes them consistently *not white* and time spent cleaning is not time spent riding. also the Fizik Microtek tape is too slippery.

so what do you think? replace with a black ProLink & black Deda tape?

black on that would be dull. go for a bright colour to contrast the black frame. yellow, red, lime maybe?

I don't care for deda bar tape compared to fizik, but that's just me. I would also go with not-black.

well, i tried the fizik tape for the first time this past december, used it straight through to today.
now that it's hot, when my hands sweat (even with gloves) it gets too slippery for my liking.

so, red, huh? would be cooler if i had a Red groupset :/

The deda tape seems to have a grippier texture than fizik, but it feels pretty hard, pretty much like cork. It also seems to get dirty FAST. You could give it a try though.

ironically i've only ever had white bar tape, so i don't know. i just want one less thing to clean.

...eff it, i spend most of my time on the hoods anyway. maybe i'll go red microtex.

If the red microtex is anything like my lime green, it will stay clean. I've ridden on mine a fair amount and it still looks new. It feels easier to clean than texture-y tape like deda or cork, but if you're slipping on it you might as well try something else.

Red....it would also be sweet if you could paintfill the "SRAM" on your wheels with red also. Too bad photoshop doesn't work in real life.

Red would work. I'll never select white saddle or bar tape for myself.

Too many people are saying red, so, obviously, you can't go with that. You want to show that you're a non-conformist.

For a real challenge, I say you should tie-dye your current bar tape.

I was going to say that a single color bar tape would be to much of that color, the white is to much, the black will blend in. I would say red with some kind of design on it to break it up. The saddle you are on your own. the saddle will be under your arse so does it's color really matter that much?

Edit - If it was SRAM Red groupo, that would make it easier....

I was going to say try Fizik, but you did. Sooooo, I'd go with a black saddle and black tape for a real "bad boy" look.

Are your hands made of water faucets?

Stay white...the all black look is so last year. I'm thinking about double wrapping my tape - something cushy underneath like Deda and something thin and easily cleaned on top.
