Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Nice, congratulations.

You should give clipless pedals a try if you've got the money. If you have shoes for your mountain bike, you could just get some SPD pedals.

Paint looks great as does the rest of the bike. Get the clipless, you won't fall over if you just spend a bit of time on the trainer clipping and unclipping to get some muscle memory

You may want to position the computer sensor on the front side of the fork. That way if it gets knocked around, it will hit the spokes and get pushed out. With the way you have it, if it gets knocked into the wheel, the spokes will just eat up that sensor.

Cateye's been around a long time. They make good stuff. I have the wired version of the Strada and it has served me well.

Cateye makes really good products. I use the Cateye Strada Cadence (wired) and it's my favorite. So far I've owned a cheaper Cateye computer, and a Ciclo Computer with an altimeter.

Their customer service is so good, that I will continue to buy their products. They sent me all the wiring and harness for my computer when I told them the wheel sensor wasn't working, but the cadence sensor was. The problem was probably due to me stretching the cable and breaking the connection, but they sent it to me for free anyways.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but that paint scheme looks really good.

Bravo Trek!

That last set of pics are great. I love my Cateye V3. Always had issues with crosstalk with my polar HRM, but the V3 hasn't had one issue plus the readout rocks. The wireless is great too. We sell so many of those that we're often out of stock for a couple days until a resupply comes in.

Cool looking bike. Now it's time to focus on getting the fit dialed in and riding it. Hopefully you can hook up with a group of local riders and get on the road. I'd suggest getting a blinking light and headlight if you plan to ride during the evening, and some clipless pedals.

There are lots of options in this area but Look makes some nice entry level stuff. So does Shimano for that matter. It is strange at first if you've never used them but once you get used to it, it's impossible to go back to standard pedals.

Your bike is the coolest looking 1.x Trek I have seen. The matte black is my favorite and it looks like lots of companies have been using it in recent years. I wish my bike was that color! Once you start riding a lot, you will care less about the colors and looks and more about comfort. For now, just ride it as much as you can.

Congrats.
