What are some high end, less known brands?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's not a Halfords bike; they are merely the sole distributor at the moment. It's a bike made by "Boardman", a company owned by former Pro Tour and GBR Track rider Chris Boardman. Apologies if you knew that already and I've misunderstood your point.

The top end offering is a great bike - lovely frame, SRAM Red.

You've probably noticed that they're not exactly lesser known "over here" anyway... every man and his unimaginative dog has one. But I wasn't sure how much they'd be known over the pond.

I've seen loads on the road and at sportives and the owners love them. i picked one up and it was really light. I liked it. I think having his brand associated with halfords is a double edged sword. they have the reach all over the country but they are just awful in reputation.

i didn't know it was a boardman company. i guessed wrongly that it was a halford bike that boardman licenced his name to.

I agree... I'm not sure Halfords was the way to go, but he's sold plenty!

Has anyone mentioned 'Basso' yet?

i feel very sorry for them. they did the right thing instead of pretending everything was ok and all the failures were user error, unlike a big company that shall remain nameless.

They make good stuff, and they're definitely not as popular as the brands in the OP. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm the only one in the 41 that rides one....

just took a 55km ride on a borrowed Principia on Sunday. Nice frame. I think they are no longer in production.
To add to this list of high end products, I was wearing my Austrian Loffler shorts.

No idea if it is complete.

I've bought some Loeffler shorts 16 years ago. Still have them
