Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Williams/Neuvation/Soul-what hubs and rims do they use?

With all the recent talk of people looking for new $200-500 got me wondering where some of these smaller companies are sourcing there parts from. I know Velocity makes rims and that there house hubs are Formulas. Are any of these others making one or the other and buying out the rest?

My bet is that these guys are buying a complete built wheel from an overseas manufacturer.

Soul uses Prodigy hubs. For the rims, I believe the S3.0 uses a Kinlin XR300 rim, and the S4.0 uses the H + Son SL42 rim. I could be wrong about both of those things, but that's what they look like.

Are Prodigy hubs available anywhere else or did Soul give their own hubs a 'brand' name?

It would be more accurate to say that they have a "model name".

Most of the hubs used are made by Joytech or Formula.

Rims - mostly kinlin, alex and h+Sons.

Prodigy is the name we give to the hubs that we designed and own the molds to produce them from. You cannot buy our Prodigy hubs from anywhere else. They are subcontracted out as we do not have a manufacturing plant/ machining shop.

We currently build all our own wheels in-house. It is probably a very simplistic view to just think there are 2-3 manufacturers of rims and hubs in Taiwan and China and may be unfair to assume that all the brands stated share similar qualities and traits just based on their selling price.
