My first bunny hop and cool as a cucumber.
Today I did my first ever bunny hop and what a hop it was!
I was minding my own business at the end of a decent length ride, just gently spinning and cruising along. The road turned downhill and my speed picked up quickly and even when I don't pedal I pick up speed pretty fast on downhills. Before I knew it I was going at about 40mph. Suddenly a rain shower came down and I was drenched. Because the whole ride had been dry, the sudden change of conditions made the braking very different from what I had been used to and at this moment a van decided to cut me off in a very dangerous manner. He wanted to park and and instead of waiting for me to go further along, he overtook me whilst i was doing 40 and slammed on his brakes turning into the curb. Bastard.
I had no time to think. Instinct took over. Everything seemed like it was in slow motion. I squeezed the brakes hard and braced my arms. My back end started to slide out and I had to let go of the breaks and feather them. No good. I was still heading for his side door and still skidding. What to do?! Without thinking, I pulled on the bars and lifted the pedals and hopped sideways onto the pavement (sidewalk). Speeded along a few yards and hopped back onto the road in front of the offending van. With a defiant fist in the air, I was off, racing into the distance.
As all this was happening, I looked at my heart rate. It didn't rise one bit. It actually slowed a little. Now that was real coolness. Cucumber cool.

You forgot to tell us about the part where you went back and dumped water on the driver, and then spit on his friend.
Oh right, you aren't a giant ******, so that didn't happen. Carry on.

Only god and weekend shoppers. i had to get off the pavement pretty quick because there were people walking towards me. It could have been a sticky moment for me the van or the pedestrians. My awesomness saved the day.
