Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wish it would cool off here! I live in south Louisiana and it is currently 92F (and humid as usual) at 6:07 p.m.

Although I notice the temps cooling down, I haven't been on a bike since mine got trashed when I was hit from behind. I'm going to a bike shop tomorrow to test ride a super six and a cr1. I'll be buying something in the next week or so and I'll ride it as long as the roads are clear and the temps aren't crazy cold. 2010 if I can find one I like my size or otherwise I'll just have to order a 2011

I've found that I can do an hour or so in some pretty cold temps if I dress for them (upper 20's to low 30's). Is it as much fun as riding in the nice warm temps with minimal clothing?, NO, but I've gone winters without riding or on a trainer though and to me it just makes the early part of the next season feel so much more like work because you lose so much fitness. I don't want to go through that again

93 degrees, 76 percent humidity, not a cloud in the sky, maybe I'm in the wrong thread

Today was the first ride of the entire year that I had to cut short because it was TOO hot.

It's been cold .... well, OK, cool .... for months here. Temps between about 0C and 10C. I will gladly send anyone those temps if I can have something a bit warmer for a while!!

We're actually on a 4-day vacation at the coast where the temps are up around 15-18C and it's wonderful to be able to go out with fewer layers on. But it will be back to the chilliness on Tuesday.

Ohhh no ya don't. Do you really wanna start comparing blacktop temps coming off of the road here in Arizona?

Considering there might be woman and children on this forum, I'm going to spare you the horror. Lol

I'm a woman, so there's a good chance of that.

You guys had better stop complaining. I'd kill for weather in the 50's right now. This is what I have to deal with in South Texas. It's at it's worst in the afternoon, but if you wait until 6, it's getting dark too early.

I can't wait until fall is here... all two weeks of it.

Haha good memory. Bandmaster is gone in favor of a Princeton however. Still a Tele, and no FX!

Here's our front sidewalk near the end of a typical winter:

To the OP: I'd say don't wait.

Oh and go Steelers!! Just got done watching them win in overtime!

I don't envy you.

Any Steelers fan is a friend of mine. I'm going to enjoy these four games before Ben comes back.

You'd be happier on a trainer.

Astonishingly and profoundly incorrect.

Hell, dealing with the Epic Conditions is half the fun.

The colder it is the harder you can go without overheating!
