Going to bike shop tomorrow or Tuesday to pick up my new ride. Narrowed it down to CAAD 10 5 or Supersix 5. Scott CR1 might also be in the running. But as for the two cannondales, would going aluminum with 105s be a bad move if I can swing the supersix? The supersix would max out budget whereas the caad 10 5 would perhaps allow me to upgrade wheels and seat. I already have clothes, helmet, shoes.

That looks like a well put together bike. Can the decals come off your rims? I think the your caad would look super nice without the busy wheel decals. Just my two cents

The decals can't come off. I have a set of pretty plain Neuvations I usually ride, but I did a somewhat windy race today and wanted to see if the "aero" benefits helped. They are my son's wheels anyway, but I do want to get something a little deeper, and wider, than the Neuvations.

Just checked out C'dales website to look at the current CAAD10 range and wow, did they ever push the price up. I remember when they first launched the 10 the dura ace model was over $3K and the question was asked "will anyone pay that much for aluminum?". Now the top of the line is $4100 that's only a couple of hundred shy of an Evo with Red. As much as I love my '11 10-4, I think I'd be going Evo at that price point.

I'm currently doing my best child-waiting-for-Santa impression while I await delivery of my brand spanking new Supersix Evo Hi-Mod DuraAce Di2 2013 and I have a question around bottom bracket compatibility the knowledgeable folks here might be able to help with.
The bike is listed as having the following bottom bracket "Cannondale Aluminium PF30 BB Cup, FSA Ceramic BB30 Bearing". I had thought it was a proprietary CAAD bottom bracket that wasn't compatible with normal cranks but truth be told the whole world of bottom bracket and cranks compatibility is a total mystery to me (know a reasonable bit about most parts of the bike but not that area). I have a DuraAce 7950 SRM powermeter crankset I need to swap out for the one that comes installed on the Supersix. Will it need an adaptor or is it just a case of swapping it straight out?
The chainset is the "NEW Cannondale Hollowgram SiSL2, Cannondale OPI Spidering, 53x39, 11 Speed (compact 50x34 included)" and while it would be pretty handy to have the option to change to full-size chainset, it's rare that I'd spin out on my 50x11 gear so reckon I'll keep with the SRM as I find training and racing with power data very useful. What would be the rough value of that chainset if I looked to sell it unused?
Will post up bikes of my new steed when it arrives...after I've had a decent bit of time alone with it first of course!

Plus it's cheaper to replace an aluminum frame. And performancewise they are too close. I wouldn't pay a premium for a plastic bike.

In fact I wish there was a CAAD10-1 with full DA9000 and SISL2. That would be my dream bike!

I see your point but I think I'd still go for aluminum. It gives me peace of mind in case of a crash.

Good reason. I didn't like how Cannondale put that flag on the top tube (doesn't go with the black) so covered it with another sticker. I had wanted to peel the flag off but it has a clear coat over it, and I wasn't confident to play around with it.
After three years I peeled the old sticker off and noticed the gum had "dulled" the matte finish where the sticker was and it stood out like dog's balls. I grabbed the car wax and at least now it has blended to all the same sheen. Actually the "mild" gloss finish on it now looks pretty good and makes it look brand spanking new.
edit...My comment on the (your) flag is purely aesthetics only. Please don't take it the wrong way.

I've officially joined the cult. Well almost. I ordered my CAAD10 4 Rival and should arrive to my LBS in a week or so. Pretty excited and good timing as the weather should start to creep into the mid 40s by next week. Perfect bike weather.

So...after reading through all 200 pages...
decided I should contribute. First post, and my first road bike. Bought it last week and she should be here sometime this week. Who knows, maybe I was bidding against a member of this forum. just a few pictures I snagged from eBay since I can't take my own just yet. It's a 2010 CAAD9 5. I paid $950 plus 89.99 shipping. Hope that was a decent deal. Took me forever to find a CAAD9 in 58cm, so I was determined to win this one and I did! Planning on re-wrapping the handlebars (white) and have some black cheap-o cages (white, black and red bottles) to hold me over until I want to pay big money for some lightweight ones. Bought some dual compound Kool Stop brake pads as I've read that those make a huge improvement to the tektro brakes that come on the bike.
Few questions... I know it's been asked before (I read this entire stinkin' thread) but it's a new year and products and technology come and go...
What are the cheapest/most effective upgrades I can make to improve the bike?
Eventually want to get some ksyrium wheels with some GP4000S tires. (too pricey for me now)
And obviously upgrade all of the main components to lighter, higher-quality parts.
Guess I was wondering if there are any smaller fixes I can/should make right away that won't put me in the hole too much, or if I should just be patient and slowly change things out for the best I can afford.
I have learned a tremendous amount from BF and I want to thank you all for your contributions!
Enough rambling, here she is...

Hopefully the pictures'll show up.
Thanks again guys!
