I'm just glad somebody finally started a CAAD thread! It's about time! :innocent:

Yeah...you contributed like half of all posts. If it weren't for your bumping, the thread would've died already...
Give it up, CAAD is boring. Your computer must be malfunctioning. It is obviously kicking you back to a thread you can't stand. There should be a little red box at the top right of your screen. If you click on it, you will be magically whisked away to a thread that you actually "will" find interesting. http://images.paraorkut.com/img/emot...waving-271.gif http://icons.mysitemyway.com/wp-cont...c-crossing.png |

Actually, I saw so many that were all over the place, so I thought a CAAD specific thread for all types of discussions would be cool. :D |

Wow. Just about everything on the CAAD10-5 is "better" than the current 5.

i wasn't a big fan of the Shimano RS10 wheels. Plus the Mavic ones that I replaced them with lighter, bladed spokes, etc..... just better all round wheels.

CAAD is a force of nature. These threads cannot be stopped....don't even try. :thumb:

The CAAD9 5 has a Cannondale Slice Premium fork (second best fork Cannondale ever made IIRC?). It is carbon. I like it.
And you can pick one up for $1100 (or maybe even less if your LBS is friendly to you). I got one at that price at my LBS on Saturday. The only difference is that it has the new 5700 105 and that the stem is C3 carbon instead of C2. The tires are also different, but I don't know if they are better. I believe the Made in USA is worth it :D |
Definetly purchasing a CAAD10. Probably going to with the rival group. Too bad the frame colors aren't for all the builds though, as the red is damn attractive.
|
hey, cannondale finally updated their website. bout freakin time.
I was kinda hoping the 10-4 would come in the stealthy dark-grey on black, but I'm fine with black and white (although I admit it is on the plain side). Now I gotta sweet talk the LBS to order one in a 58 or a 60 for me. |

So, I posted a thread for this before I noticed there was a CAAD specific discussion. I suppose this would be a better place to get good advice on the situation...
After riding my F95, my girlfriend is now dying to move up from her 1970s takara road bike (almost too heavy for her to carry). Our anniversary is coming up, and I plan to buy her a decent bike. She's no racer and wont be going on tons of long rides, mostly commuting. I just hate to see her struggle with her ~50 pound bike. I also think she'd ride with me if she had something she could handle a little better. After perusing craigslist for a while, I came across a cannondale cad2 in her size. It has mavic wheels and shinamo components and looks to be in excellent shape. The pretty red paint job doesn't hurt either. The downtube shifters are a pain, but the ones on her current bike are horrendous, so she would probably find these quite an upgrade. Now I know cannondale has an excellent reputation and I'm not too worried about the quality of the bike, but I was hoping some of you could shed some light on this particular model. (ride characteristics, weight, any common problems, etc) The going price is $300 which seems reasonable. The lady selling it also seems desperate to get rid of it so I plan to offer $250 and see what happens. I attached a picture below. Thanks in advance for any insight! http://i869.photobucket.com/albums/a...rs078/CAD2.jpg The bottle holders and foot straps are included, she's keeping the computer. EDIT: I forgot to mention, I will be taking my girlfriend along to look at the bike before actually purchasing it. It fitting her well is obviously the most important aspect. |
Downtube shifters are not going to be the only pain. I could not imagine commuting daily on one of those.

That bike is gonna beat the crap out of your ladies ass according to some that have dealt with non hour-glass shaped seat stays from older Caad frames...I can't testify to this, but it is something you will want to test.
|
Very stiff frame. For daily commuting on rough roads not really what one wants. Also from what I remember you can only get 700X25s on those frames, so larger tires to help absorb shock is eliminated. Also do you know what you are going to use to transport gear? A back pack would make this ride even more grueling as a commuter. There are some companies that make rear racks that do not require brazeons.
