Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Great bike if it fits. The sizes smaller than 55 have a relatively long reach with a very low stack. Mine fit like a glove, so I love it.

hey i guess i'll have to do my 'research' on this padding on the nosing of the saddle...sigh. oh what kinda stem do you have on your bike? is that a zipp? it looks so huge! is your bike a 52 cm? if so, do you know the size of the stock c2 stem?

you seatpost looks a little different from mine even though both have the c2 on it...i wish there was a timeline of the caad9 changes ...

It's a Bontrager Race XXX Lite OS stem that is produced by Zipp. Identical, but believe it or not, the Bonty is blingier.
As for the stock C2, I have no idea of what size I had, but I think it was 100mm. My Bonty is 110 and is better for me.

My frame is a 56cm. The post is the carbon wrapped c-stem, but the 2010's have full carbon for some of the OEM posts.

I was supposed to have a Sora fr der and Vittoria tires, but my CAAD9-7 came with a Tiagra fr der and Maxxis tires.

So, despite whatever spec a bike advertises, sometimes, you get something better.

Thanks for the welcome.

I know the pic is on the wrong side and all, I will try to take better pics when I have the chance. Also on the upper left corner is a little bit of my finger. lol

Gasp!

Is that top tube leaned up against that pipe!
Next time, not the derailleur/crankside, but the other side and two
contact points should be tires and bar side and when possible, saddle.

(Other than that congrats and that's a really nice pic with the Treks lined up like that)

I believe most of the weight was on the rear tire, but I actually forgot how I put the bike there haha. Anyway, no bike was harmed in the making of this picture.

They're not that fragile, are they?

.... And how tough does the CAAD10 feel? Can you... uh, jump curbs and subject it to other forms of urban hardships? Within reason, of course.

ya the stem i have isn't the sexiest looking thing but it holds up. what are the real advantages of upgrading any stem, besides length and 'bling' ? i read around that the material does not make any diff, its all in the handlebars...

when i got my bike it came all stock except for the handlebars...they are easton ec70 aero. top of bars are flatter than the traditional rounded ones which makes hand placement more comfortable. the drops are kinda weird cuz its flat at diagonal then like 1-2" flat at the bottom of drops. i was looking at the ec90, all round drops looks very nice but dont know about comfort especially at the top (doesn't look like it has as wide of a surface as the ec70...) any ideas?

woh i got a pretty short stem, no wonder when im pulling up on handlebars i dont feel enough leverage...is this a possible reason or the main reason? nice 10 you got there! wheels with red strip and stem go real well together. is the stem a 3T like you seatpost?

i like the shape of your handlebars, what are the makes?

when i look at the side of my bike it doesnt look a bit aggressive, and i think its also due to the short stem, right?

I've read it both ways but experienced it only one way...I switched to a high quality carbon cockpit and my ride improved exponentially.

Of course a good aluminum bar will be better than a poor quality carbon bar.
But I don't care what anybody says...both bars being equal in quality and design,
a carbon bar will offer more comfort IMHO and an aluminum bar would probably be stiffer.

Looks like you have "ergo" bars.
I have "compact" bars.

Go to a LBS and sit on a few bikes and see which feel better to you (if any).
That's what I did...once I always wanted an FSA K-Wing to match up to my stem,
but when actually got the chance to mount a bike with the exact same set-up
and got a "feel" for it, I knew I was going to get the FSA without a doubt.

Up until now, it is undeniably the most noticeable upgrade I've made
with my saddle coming in 2nd and my tires coming in 3rd.

Thanks for the compliment. When I did my bike fitting, they told me I needed a 110mm stem, so I replaced the original to a 3T team. The length of the stem is actually determined by fitting instead of how the bike would look. I have been told I have long arms. Well, at least for a 5'8. Just like picking the frame size, you want to have the correct size instead of how the bike would look, right? My fitter fit me into 54 or 52 at the time, but I opted for 52 after trying both.

The handle bar is also 3T, it's Ergosum LTD 400mm. I bought it because it's a lot stiffer than the team version. Function over form, right? . Again, I was fit into either 420mm for comfort or 400mm for aggressiveness, and I opted for 400mm.

If you want your bike to look more aggressive, you could try to flip your stem and lower it a bit if you are flexible. But watch out for lower back pain and tired arms! but you'll never know until you try.

Those CAADS do rock. Gotta ride one and see how it feels. Loved my old Six13 bikes (I had the road bike and the Slice TT bike). How many grams does the new CAAD 10 frame weigh? The fork?

Every time I see this thread title I'm thinking 'that should say The Cult of Pcad'.

I think its an illusion of the photo. Pretty sure the red part is just the adjuster on the brake caliper, not on the handlebars

i flipped it and also got rid of all spacers that came with it, except for the cane creek beveled one, im guessing thats the integrating piece from 1-1/8" to whatever the fork size is...? anyways its like an 1" high from frame head. with the stem flipped it isn't pointing horizontal but maybe 1 or 2 degrees up. is your stem zero to the ground? what angle should i got for when searching for a stem? i looked at the 3T website, so many different stems!

there's only one correct answer :

-17 stem with rotundo bars. Note that 3T's way of measuring is different from how other companies measure. Standard measurement is by extension (total length) and 3T does it by reach (effective horizontal length)

Consult the chart below

This is what you get with such a set-up (both stem and handlebars are made by ritchey)
