looking for my first road bike and the the caad 10 ultegra is currently at the top of my list. smoothest ride i have been on thus far.
noticed LOTS of issues with the BB30, would swapping the crank for an ultegra solve this? |

No because you still have a BB30 frame. I had a caad9 with an adapter to use non bb30 cranks and it still creaked like a mofo. Seems like it comes down to care and installation of bb30 bearings, servicing them and luck.
well that sucks, thanks for the heads up though. i was dead sold on the caad 10 ultegra now i am questioning it. |

Its really not that bad. As long as you install the bearings correctly, they're fine. Loctite 609 helps a lot. |
The BB30 creaking problem came up in a casual discussion I had with my local Cannondale dealer before I even decided on the CAAD10. They were definitely well aware of the issue and have been able to correct it during installation. The fact that they didn't try to brush it off and were pretty knowledgeable about it made me confident about having them order my CAAD10.

bb30 is not a caad10 problem or a cannondale problem, it's a bb30 problem. A lot of companies are moving toward bb30 so a lot of bikes you may consider may have bb30. Even though I did have some annoying, unsettling creaking sounds for pretty much the entire time I owned my caad (which was only about year), there do seem to be thousands of people on bb30 bikes without any issues. I would imagine the percentage of people that get the creaks is like 5% of overall bikes on the road. It just seems like more because it's the internet. Everyone with a problem is going to go on line and complain but not many people without a problem are going to come on and say how great and quiet their bottom bracket is

Hi everyone, I'm planning on purchasing a used (or new) CAAD10 105 Bike. I've never ridden a road bike, i've road mostly fixed geared bikes and I kept seeing all these road cyclist on campus and thought that it looked like a hell of a lot of fun to not worry about clipping around corners.
I had a few questions I was hoping all of you could help me with. For starters I'm not sure what a good price for a CAAD10 105 to be, my preferred price limit would be around $1,000 and maybe a bit more but hopefully that will be my limit. With that being in mind, what year should I be looking at to find that price range. Thanks everyone |

I can't for the life of me think why you'd want to voluntarily add that much rotating weight without even the aero advantage of reducing your spoke count, though. Surely these; Amazon.com : Aeromax Alloy Wheelset Road Bike Comp 700c Wheels : Sports & Outdoors would look nearly as cool, for half the price and less weight penalty. |

I just have the stock rs10's, so it's only about 400g of so...not the worst....I have been planning on building up a caad8 or something then sell the 10 for an evo at some point during the next 10 years. Maybe these will be the 8's wheels :D |
I would probably just go with the nashbar slr vuelta wheelset at 14xxg for like 250 or so? But thats not the biggest difference compared to the rs10's so I dont think it's worth it. But, people seem to like the H+ sons wheels above, so who knows?
I have student loans to pay off and not wheel sets to think about....until I break my current wheel sets or build up a new bike, which I doubt the latter will happen. Growing up sucks :( :D |

Yeah i guess that is a decent weight drop. But I am not a ww :p and for all seriousness i dont think I have read about the stock wheels breaking unless they have 1,000,000 miles or from a crash.
But anyone test ride the caad10 disc yet? |

My LBS was nice enough to switch out the bar tape after I had mentioned that Cannondale green bar tape would look great with the team colors. I might switch it out to gloss black once I wear this one down though.

Recently purchased a CAAD10 (currently own a CAAD9) and came stock with Aksiums. I don't want the Aksiums as these are pretty heavy and I noticed a big difference when I upgraded to Boyd Vitesse a few years ago. There seem to be good deals on the Ultegra wheelset which is probably much better than the Aksiums. I wanted to get any advice or what is good under $500 that pairs well with the CAAD10.

Looks great, but the brake pads are missing.
