Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Although I really like the 10's lines, this 9 is a very tidy package. Well done.

Hang in there brother. Before you know it, you'll be squealing like a kid blasting down the road on that thing. Hold fast.

Bikes: All have flats.

Got mine up and running. CAAD9-6. Replace the stock 500's with some old Velomax wheels I've had for a while. I was coming off an old Bridgestone RB-1, which handled well, doesn't match to the stiffness and handling of the CAAD9. There. I said it. The CAAD feels, lighter, and although it does fatigue me a little, it's no big thing.

BUT... I am very annoyed, and thus ask for advice. I made the idiotic move of trying to replace the bottle cage with a cheapo plastic profile cage[don't ask why]. I crossthreaded the top bolt, and it loosened the fastener/nut from the frame! What do I do? I was thinking I could use super glue to fasten the nut to the frame, but that seems unbelievably cheesy. Is my beautiful frame ruined? I'm planning to take it to the shop, but the whole thing is just so embarrassing.

You might want to consider changing the location of your sensor to get a better signal. I know that at least Strada uses the position you're using in its manual, but it does not place the sensor directly under the computer for the CAAD and is not the best location for the strongest signal.

Thanks for the tip, I'll consider it if it starts acting up. I'm assuming it should be on the nds facing forward?

Even so, the colors on the toupe and the bar tape set it off nicely.

Ditto.
If you check out my "The Cabin Fever Thread..." here, you'll see how it got to me too.
Now, I'm trying to take advantage of all the good days I can.
I can't wait until those hot sweaty days to come back so I can pound the pavement.

So finally get to ride it after buying it for almost two months and only being able to look at it and see the reviews of how great it is, but never being able to ride it.

It was raining in the SF Bay Area the last few weeks, so had to wait the dreadful wait. Was so scared that this week was going to rain also, but the rain finally stopped and the sun came out. Which is absolutely perfect since it's my vacation from work and spring break from school. (: Some times, although seemingly seldom, things do go my way.

My first road bike. So far I love the bike. Tell me what upgrades I should do next. Thanks.

Focus...that's a tight bike.
But ultimately, you made the correct choice!
Now, upgrade to a "camera" and let's see some pics!
Welcome aboard the CAAD Train!

You even have the same seat wedge! I am glad that I have yet to see anyone ride a CAAD10 and in the same color in any of the group rides I have been. This thread sort of skews the reality really far.

By the way, I am visiting SF in a month or so to look at some schools. Do you know what would be a good ride to take down there to see the city? I haven't been to SF yet and was especially interested in seeing the area around UCSF. Can you cross the bridge on a bike?

Did you ever get fit to that bike? It's unusual that the seat and the bars are almost at the same level; the seat is usually about 2-5 inches higher than the bars. Before you did anything else to the bike, a good fit session would be job #1.

If it fits, though, just ignore me.
