Was just told that Pedaler's West is sold out of 2010 models. The next available (2011) can be ordered for $2000. This really pisses me off, as it seems like buying a bike becomes similar to buying a car. I hate the whole process of dealing with dealers.
And I checked on Felt web site, the MSRP on 2011 models is $2K. How in the world do the LBS's sell them for $2200 and then discount $200 based on sale price?! Car dealers...LBS....same B.S.

The website is incorrect.
Garmin didn't sponsor Felt, Felt sponsored the Garmin-Transitions Cycling team of which this bike is a replica of the team model. The merry go round of pro cycling sponsorships is well under way and Felt is no longer with Transitions. I think they are going to BMC next year but don't quote me.

I had the Felt and Garmin backwards.

I think retail on the bike is $2300 + tax so getting it out the door for $1700 is not too bad.
You can always upgrade the seat post and wheels later and I would see if the shop can swap you out to a 12-27. Heck, if you have the cash, I would see if you can pay to upgrade the seat post and wheels before you walk out the door with the bike.
As for the 105, its a bummer it is not the new but I don't think you would notice such a big difference when riding.
I say go for it - nice looking bike.

I am sure some of that is true but you have to wonder how much of what they say is marketing / sales talk to try to boost sales of the new F-series and justify the large increase in proce.

Hype, maybe, but if the progression follows previous Felt technology, this years F2-F5 will have a carbon layup like last year's F1, and this year's F1 layup will be new. They have already moved to BB30, which I see as a minus.

I believe you. I hope they didn't do some kind of switcharoo at the factory on the left-over 2010s, that's all... I bought some stem spacers from Pedeler's about 2 weeks ago when I was messing around with the stems on the Fuji and those Garmin Teams weren't there.

How is pedaler's west as far as assisting you select the correct size (either the quicky free fitting or the fitting you pay for)?

I asked them that while I was there. I was told they would adjust the seat for me. 1200, I hope you get better results. I am interested to hear your impressions of the shop when you are all done. I truly hope it is better than the impression I left there with.

I'll get back to you guys with the review when I pick up the bike but I'm not expecting much, honestly. They didn't have any trainers in the shop - from what I saw - that looked like they were set-up to help fit someone.
As far choosing the right size, I knew the size I wanted so I can't answer your question because they didn't help me with that.

Also, not sure how good a deal this is but for those looking for a full carbon bike @ $1700, in 3 weeks H & S cycles in Burbank will have the Giant TCR Composites in stock and they'll do $1700 cash, full new 105 and Dura-Ace BB.
Andrew at H&S is definitely one of the nicest people I have met so far and that shop will do good fits.

Yep, that's why I wasn't sure how good a deal it was. Tax-included though for full carbon fiber, alloy steerer and the brakes are Tektro, not 105.

considering all the pro riders were on either the AR series or the Z series i'd have to say it's a humbly honest thing to say. and the new 2011 F_series are significantly cheaper than the 2010 F-bikes if u look at msrp. Of course this gets thrown out of the window if you can find a shop blowing out the prices!

But I agree, MSRP means sh** sometimes based on how some shops price.

The Giant looks like a nice bike too.....I may stop by H&S and talk to that Andrew guy. Sounds like a nice deal for a carbon/105. I don't care much for the brakes, as long as they stop

If you are looking for Giant, I would think a quick call out to Newbury Park Cycles would be worth it, if H&S doesn't have what you want. When I was at the Tri at Zuma, they said they had some pretty nice deals going. They carry Giant and Felt, not sure what else.

So, 1200, did you get your bike yet? Any 1st ride report?

No bike yet, the one time they called me it was about fitting a 11-28 Sram Cassette that they had in stock vs. the 12-27 I had asked for. Still waiting... They probably have to order a 12-27 which is why it's taking so long.

I brought the bike home today, initial response was: "I love this bike!"
It sucks up the road imperfections like no tomorrow - a gazillion times better than the Fuji, it's a much more plush ride.
Weight wise, it's a lot heavier than my Fuji with full Ultegra (2009). Needless to say, that was a given since I had downgraded components. The only thing 105 is Fd, Rd, brake levers and cassette. The Crank, BB and brakes are lower end Shimano so they're a lot heavier. Shifting wise, they both are about the same to me with the Ultegra FD being more precise. Upgrading this bike to full Ultegra or Dura-ace sometime in the future will be the best day of my life, coupled with a new set of carbon clinchers, probably from psimet, will really make this bike stand out.
I know I annoyed the crap out of Shovelhd about that seat-post and I apologize
He was right, the website was wrong - it was a 3T Dorico Team, CF seat post
As far as the service at Pedeler's West, the fit was a funny experience to say the least. They had me sit on my bike, lean against the wall while they used a nut tied to a shoe-string (it was all they could find).
I didn't even pedal backwards, they just had me put the pedals at 12 and 6 - then 9 - 3 o'clock, 1 mm up on the seat post, 1 mm back on the seat post, that was that.
Other than that, the service was good, they lightened up a lot once they knew I was serious about buying a bike but if you want a bike shop that knows what they're doing when it comes to fits and are serious road bike enthusiasts, this isn't the place. To me it didn't really matter, I felt like I was getting the same service around town no matter where I went and if I was going to go through with getting a bike fit, might was well do it properly with someone like Nate Loyal. So the fit didn't bother me since I plan to get a proper fit anyway. The bike was the deal breaker for me, no matter the shop.
I love this bike though, so sexy !
